2006 Ford Fiesta ST 16V 2.0 petrol
Summary:
Classic hot hatch!
Faults:
Alternator and battery.
Clutch judder.
Electric mirrors stopped working.
Engine used oil and was a bit smokey in my last year of ownership - almost didn't pass MOT emissions which was why I sold it.
General Comments:
Bought this on the strength of my fathers advice - he was always banging on about how good his early 1990's XR2i was back in the day. This 2006 Fiesta ST is quite a different and faster beast, and was an enjoyable hot hatch.
2.0 "Duratec" petrol engine had plenty of power and still managed 38 mpg.
Ride was harsh due to massive alloy wheels. Handled very well though.
Looked great in blue. Interior was very nice.
Decided to cut my losses in 2016 and sold it at the infamous 10 year 100,000 mile mark. The car was generally reliable, and I looked after it, but just didn't trust it when it started burning oil.
Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? Yes

Sorry to hear about the problems (especially as I'm getting an ST!) but on the whole I've heard only positive things about this car. The masking-tape episode is shocking! Yes, the issue re. slight lack of power does seem to crop up occasionally, but then again, it wasn't designed to compete on equal terms with the likes of the 172/182s for sheer speed, but having said that, the standard ST is by no means disgraced. The speed difference is all relative. Unfortunately, it's just one of those things - whenever you change to a slower car, it's going to be one of the first things you notice. Obviously, if your previous car had been a Ka for example, you'd be well-impressed with the ST's turn of speed. For me, the ST is a superb handling little car, which is powerful enough for everyday driving and endless B-road fun (and fortunately it's faster than my current car!).
