Faults:

Water in driver's footwell.

Gearbox has failed. Will not engage any gear.

General Comments:

Comfortable to drive. Has extra acceleration at all (legal) speeds.

Slight vibration at around 70 mph, but I haven't had the tracing done.

Despite its age, the driving position and seat are comfortable.

Spacious. The ability to remove the rear seats is great, but they are heavy bulky and cumbersome to move and store.

Handles for the seat backs etc come off and break easily.

There is some rust on the (black) rear door window guides.

The bonnet insulation, and the tray that catches water under the wipers are both in poor condition; worse than expected for an 11 year old car.

Faults:

The car has had 2 gearboxes fitted before I bought it, The first at 58000, The second at 70000.Now it is starting to lose power and intermittently won't drop down a gear change usually when going up a hill.I'm not a mechanic, but I can't understand how the gearbox is giving trouble again, Does anybody have any ideas?

General Comments:

I really love this car, I find it very economical

I have had no problem with water in the door wells

Seats are very comfy an versatile.

Faults:

Air conditioning unit blew after 14,000 miles.

No other reported problems.

General Comments:

Although the car is slow to take off, this could be due to the automatic gearbox, it's a nice car and runs well. Never, ever overtake on a hill, or you will just look stupid! The acceleration is just too slow in this model.

The seats are heavy so don't take them out too often! But when its empty it goes like a rocket!

Don't buy one with the beige interior, its gets dirty with the children and their muddy boots, and takes a good hour to clean inside.

Heated front and rear windscreen a real bonus, it clears in seconds in the winter.

A pain to park in small spaces, but that's the same with every large car.

Ours is a diesel, and I would say its great on the fuel for a large car. Approx £10 for 110 miles.

We've not had ours long, but we have had nothing go wrong with it so far.

Id highly recommend the automatic diesel, it's a super, roomy car with everything you need for a large family. It has turned many a head!

Faults:

Air conditioning compressor failed at 500 miles.

Drivers door lock failed at 40000 miles.

Speaker grills are always getting broken as they are very thin.

Intermittant wiper has intermittant fault.

General Comments:

I'm very impressed with the versatility of this car, you can get a single bed and mattress in the back of it without any problems. After that, you can accommodate 7 adults in after you have struggled with the 5 removable back seats which weigh in at heavy at 42lbs each. Luggage space is very restricted with all 7 seats in though.

The tyres on the back go on forever, but it gets through front tyres at a alarming rate, 12,500 miles for special Dunlop 2020 reinforced tyres at about £100 a go adds significantly to the running costs. (Why does it have to be only these "special" tyres and nothing else will do I wonder?)

It goes like a rocket, especially when 210 lbs (5 chairs) have been removed. But there is a price to pay... The fuel consumption is rather heavy, over the 41,000 miles I managed an average of just 24MPG.

Only consider a Galaxy if it has air conditioning, A/C is essential to keep the acre or so of glass condensation free in the colder months.

The Zetec needs central remote locking, rear electric windows and an alarm.

Pepper Red's 3 year lease is up next week and although I could have opted for any other MPV including the Sharan, Voyager, or an Alhambra, I've chosen another Galaxy. This time I'm going for a properly equipped 2.3 Ghia though.
