2004 Ford Transit 300 SWB 2.0 turbo diesel

Summary:

Still life in this van yet!

Faults:

Clutch, thermostat, alternator, driveshafts, suspension, exhaust, brakes, typical parts replaced for high mileage.

The van is looking very rough cosmetically now, worn interior and rust showing on most panels on the exterior.

General Comments:

A Classic Transit van is still a popular sight on UK roads and it's easy to see why - generally good running costs and reliability is OK. Plenty of space whatever you work as.

2.0 diesel engine is a bit rough, but accelerates well enough even when loaded, while still being reasonably economical.

Interior is dull and plasticity, plus there is too much road noise on the motorway. Seats are comfortable enough however.

I reckon this van will make it to the 20 year, 200,000 mile mark; it has had a hard life but I do look after it (every oil change).

I think that the garage was at fault, not the van...

What do the numbers T260, T125, T280 T130 etc., mean?

20th Apr 2021, 21:22

I could be wrong but I think the numbers represent the engine power (ps) and gross vehicle weight (GVW) for example 135 T350= 137ps 3.5t GVW. (Approximated)
