1999 Honda CR-V LX 2.0 petrol

Summary:

Best of Japanese with the safety of AWD

Faults:

Fan belt was squeaky for a while. Eventually it worked itself off the runner. My Honda dealer was absolutely brilliant. They towed it to the workshop, gave me a free courtesy car, and fixed it under warranty.

My Honda dealer did a number of "big" maintenance jobs in pre-delivery service e.g. suspension bushings, and cam belt.

Original tyres needed replacing. Quite reasonably priced.

General Comments:

Perfect balance of Honda personality, performance and economy, Japanese reliability, AWD safety, SUV height. Plus all the usual creature comforts. And the added bonus of being intimidating to the majority of UK traffic.

From experience, a well maintained Honda will go forever.

I prefer this model to newer ones, even though it's 8 years old.

Glad you are enjoying it.

I had a mark 2, and now have a mark 3 Honda CR-V.

Just to point out that the CR-V does not have AWD, it has an on demand 4wd system.

1999 Honda CR-V 2 litre petrol

Summary:

Fantastic - buy one

Faults:

Absolutely nothing major whatsoever. Parking bulbs have gone - tricky to replace yourself.

General Comments:

This car is a joy on long journeys. I don't have cruise, but the auto box is so well geared and the gas pedal is so nicely weighted that you don't miss is.

I was shocked when the Honda dealer offered a 1 year warranty on a 5 year old car. It is completely reliable.

It states in the manual that the vehicle is not designed for trail blazing, but I've had it in a few muddy fields and it was quite nimble footed.

The cargo area is huge with the rear seats folded, I have fitted lawn mowers, motorbikes and barrels in mine no problem. The carpets are easy to keep clean too.

1999 Honda CR-V 2.0 petrol

Summary:

Great comfortable deal that is better than the new model

Faults:

The front air grille popped out of the brackets when I went over a fairly rough bump.

General Comments:

The car handles like a dream.

The interior is very robust. I have two dogs (Doberman and a Bassett) and one small child and it is still in good condition.

Could do with a little less of a plastic feel to it.

1999 Honda CR-V ES 2.Petrol0

Summary:

Perfect people-carrier alternative

Faults:

Nothing!

Although we have only had it for a year (15000 miles), it hasn't yet missed a beat, which is a relief because Honda service is not cheap.

Interior has taken some serious abuse from child seats and children, but appears to be bullet proof.

General Comments:

Comfortable and roomy, but I find it a little under-powered and noisy.

It would have been nice to have a large V6 or even a turbo-diesel to select from.

This has been the perfect family car, and the modest boot can swallow a huge amount of prams and toys when required, which is most of the time!

1999 Honda CR-V ES 2.0 petrol

Summary:

Perfect for the wife and kids

Faults:

Absolutely nothing - it's a Honda.

General Comments:

Brilliant family transport. Great driving position, great performance for it's class and loads of space. Built solidly and well equipped. Good economy (30 ish) for size. Totally reliable. Beats Freelander in all departments. Dealers a cut above other mainstream marques - they lent me an NSX as a courtesy car while the CR-V was in for a service!
