2000 Honda S2000 2.0

Summary:

An F1 car for the road

Faults:

Nothing at all, in the 18 months I had no problems at all, if I was picky I would say that the bonnet was hard to close, that's it.

General Comments:

Fantastic looking, the best gear change of any car I have driven, even an automatic!! astounding engine, twitchy handling in the wet.

2001 Honda S2000 2.0

Summary:

Something different, but with an absolutely breathtaking engine

Faults:

I have had no problems with the car.

General Comments:

An absolutely fabulous car, it has the looks, the engine, the chassis and its different.

The soft top is so easy to put up and down and its very snug and warm even on a winters day with the top down.

I drive it 40 miles to work very day and it drives as well in the city as its does on the motorway.

But it is in its element on a smooth and curvy piece of tarmac on a balmy weekend.

I love it to bits.

2002 Honda S2000 2.0 DOHC VTEC

Summary:

Excellent bang for your buck

Faults:

Car was perfectly prepared on delivery and has been faultless since.

General Comments:

Why should you consider an S2000 over a Boxster or TT?, because you are an individual who is not swayed by fashion or status.

This car is two in one. Below 6000 rpm its as docile as an MX5 and comfortable enough for the daily commute. Above 6000rpm, this car will out accelerate virtually anything else on the road.

Dry weather handling is excellent. In the wet, as with any 240 bhp rear wheel drive car, caution is required, especially as the OEM Bridgestone S02 tyres are designed for optimum dry weather grip.

If you want a car that is £8000 cheaper that the equivalent Porsche, £3000 cheaper that the equivalent Audi TT and is as satisfying to own and drive as either of them, then buy an S2000. If you are worried about what your neighbours think, or are just a poser at heart then buy something else and leave the proper sports cars to people like me.

It's miles better than the TT, which let's face it is only a very expensive Golf in drag, but it's not as good as the Boxster S.

I had an S2000 and sold it for a used Boxster S after 6 months. The 2000 is a great car, is beautifully made and very exhilarating when it comes on cam. However, the Boxster S engine does what the S2000's does with half the revs on the clock.

The Boxster is far more rewarding and exploitable on the limit, and can be found at bargain secondhand prices. As for pose value, all a Boxster says about me is that I can't afford a 911 ;-) I bought it because it is a proper sports car that you don't need a trust fund and a big inheritance to afford.

Summary:

Utterly thrilling!

Faults:

Nothing so far.

General Comments:

After driving an Integra Type-R on a work track day, I had been totally amazed by the sound of a screaming VTEC engine. So to pick this up last year was a dream come true. Red-lining at 9,000 rpm, the sound is embarrassing (loud) when you overtake. Torque needs to be higher at lower rpm, but when you hit 6,000 rpm it takes off! We have made 0-60mph in 5.5 seconds.

I bought this car mainly for the performance, but you need to be aware of some other points as well. The car comes with one equipment level. It has mod-cons, but nothing flash, no sat-nav for instance.

The roof is great, but you'll be glad of the fantastic heater which has kept us warm at snowline temperatures. Don't be put off by it folding down, the boot can be completely filled up with the roof down (unlike the SLK).

We totally love this car, it's made driving a pleasure again.

If this is based on a DC2 Integra I think the book 0-60 time is more like 6.6 seconds, it actually has a 1.8 litre engine and I have never seen a convertible integra type r.

This is unless it has been modded.

If it's a DC5 Integra, it's a little faster, and with a 2 litre lump I think. Still no convertible though.

I bought a DC2 a month ago.
