2006 Hyundai Trajet GSI 2ltr

Summary:

Fantastic

Faults:

Nothing, the car has been a dream since the day I got it back in January 2006.

General Comments:

Loads of room, cheaper than its rivals here in the UK; for example the Ford Galaxy by £3000.00.

My car has a hoist for my scooter, and carries 4 people (2 adults, 2 children) quietly on motorways and urban roads.

The dash is laid out OK, and the dials are big.

2006 Hyundai Trajet GSI 2.0

Faults:

Was trying to establish if anyone has had the whistling - flute- wind noise from teh Trajet at high speeds resolved. If so what was the answer. Our dealer is having problems resolving this...

BTW the problem has been there since day 1.

The problem happens to be with the rubber surround on the door seal; all you need to do is take it off, clean it and re seal it.

Had same problem; Trajets can make whistling noises at high speeds due to faulty windscreen seals. The windscreen needs to be removed and the seals replaced.

2001 Hyundai Trajet GSi 2.0 petrol

Summary:

Excellent value for money, well built, well designed

Faults:

Nothing at all.

General Comments:

Being realistic (it is a people carrier, not a coupe) we have been really pleased. The car handles well, and we have had no problems at all (noting that some reviews talk about performance, mechanical troubles, body wear etc). It is comfortable for a family. There is no sign of wear or tear at all.

We are very impressed with the car. I have driven in other people carriers that cost a lot more, and to be honest the Trajet holds up well in comparison.

The fact that you get a lot of features as standard is excellent. There is a lot of attention to detail. I never think there are things they could have added.

Our next car will also be a Trajet.

Couldn't agree more. Just bought a Trajet 2004 reg. We spent some time looking at several other 7 seaters. For the money, you get an extremely well equipped family car that costs less than every other 7 Seater. It is cheaper than the Citroen C8, Seat Alhambra, Volkswagen Sharan, Ford Galaxy, KIA Sedona, Chrysler Voyager etc, etc. We bought ours with 10,000 miles on the clock still with 4 years left to run on the warranty and 2 years RAC - yes, second hand! No other manufacturer could match that - all for just £11,200 with air con, reversing sensors and other fabulous electric things. The slogan is absolutely spot on - look at the car first, not the badge!

Summary:

Loads of car for the money - well worth considering

Faults:

Piece of wing mirror trim fell off; was replaced under warranty with no complaint by dealer.

General Comments:

Ten months of ownership, and absolutely no problems as yet! Very pleased with the car and the friendly local dealer.

A lot of car for the money, with masses of features as standard (air-con, CD player, ABS, alloys). Looks nice, not too van-like.

It swallows up three young children, plus school-friends, luggage, pushchairs etc. with no problems, and seats are easy to fold/remove.

Not the most cracking performance (it struggles on hills and wallows about a bit on corners too), but then you don't buy a 7-seater, fill it with children and expect to drive like Michael Schumacher. However, it's a great motorway cruiser, quiet and comfortable at speed.

2002 Hyundai Trajet GSi 2.0 turbo diesel

Summary:

An accident waiting to happen

Faults:

Car was handed over with a puncture.

Car was supplied with incorrect wheels and tyres, they were not suitable for this vehicle. When eventually refitted with correct size, they were second hand.

Car was pulling violently to the left.

Extra items bought with the car were not fitted.

Alternator was excessively noisy.

A strong smell of coolant could be smelt when car was stationary.

The window tint was not supplied to the correct colour and is peeling off.

We were charged £90 pound for the first 3 MOT's and then given vouchers for them.

The leather seats were not standard from Hyundai, they were covered by another company, these seats looked shabby and were bent within a few months.

A suspension bump stop fell off and had to be replaced within a few months.

The rear axle beam and trailing arm now need replacing.

The front tyres are wearing unevenly, caused by misalignment of castor camber angles.

Turbo pipe had a leak and had to be repaired.

The tailgate had to have new gas support rams.

The vehicle would not start and had to have the ignition pick up coil for recognition of key replaced.

The number plate light had a broken wire and had to be repaired.

The Antilock braking system has a fault, when braking it keeps coming on, even though you are only braking gently.

The gearbox is very crunchy.

The interior trim is coming apart, the seats had springs showing through from first day.

The interior squeaks and creaks all the time.

The car surges and increases acceleration, without warning.

The turbo whines.

The fuel cap leaks fuel down the bodywork.

General Comments:

This was supposed to be a new car, with a five year warranty, however Hyundai will not rectify the faults.

There are so many faults with this car, it is a major disappointment.

Have you tried driving the traject at speeds of over 65 miles an hour. Out of an air vent (I think front left) I get an irritating whistling noise that sounds like someone playing a flute badly. Is it only my car or are there others like that. Also, the car radio is going mad and the car tends to lock itself on its own.
