1995 Jaguar XJ6 Sport 3.2

Summary:

Can't see myself selling this one

Faults:

Oil gauge sender unit intermittently not working - replaced by main dealer on same day - they also cleaned the car afterwards!

General Comments:

My first big cat - very quick and very quiet.

Good fuel economy made even better by converting it to lpg.

LPG conversion: is it "acceptable" to do this? Isn't this taking the true wealthy spirit of this big cat away? Anyway, I am considering buying a XJ6 myself... but am still hesitating with the high insurance and local tax-costs...

I also considered LPG, but in my country (BE) we must indicate this with a big green sticker on the back, and i'd hate people to think i actually can't afford my cat. :-)

1995 Jaguar XJ6 Sport Manual 3.2

Summary:

Excellent value, style and quality

Faults:

Nothing has failed, but the car has required a little work to bring it to perfect working order.

The front brake discs warped, vibrating the car and were therefore replaced.

The front roll bar bushes and wishbone bushes were replaced.

General Comments:

Jaguars give real driving pleasure and live up to the brand.

I believe the high running costs of Jaguars are a myth. It gives over 30 miles per gallon on a run.

1995 Jaguar XJ6 3.2 Litre

Summary:

Why go Economy when you can travel 1st class?

Faults:

Problems with the radio/CD changer not playing Cd's. Repaired cheaply at local car radio dealers.

Rear door lock doesn't always work when doors are unlocked which can be annoying if you wish to place anything in the back seat before getting in.

General Comments:

Few things have gone wrong with this high miler. The car took me and my partner down through France to Italy this summer without a hint of complaint.

The distances per day were huge, and the weather was very hot. The Jag took all this with ease keeping the passengers cool & cosseted in the quiet cabin mile after mile. Fantastic car for the big miles it has covered, a credit to Jaguar for improving their quality so much since the eighties.

No rust, no mechanical failures. SUPERB!!!.

1995 Jaguar XJ6 3.2

Summary:

Good value for money at five years, luxury motoring at low price

Faults:

Instrument panel and center console illumination failed in December 2002.

Blows the fuse that covers the circuit for instrument lights each time it is replaced. Auto electrician will have to do the job as the fault will be hard to trace.

Lock on passenger front door doesn't always "pop up" when unlocking the car.

Radio Cassette / CD Changer only plays Cd's intermittently, the fault lies in the head unit housed in the center console which does not switch from Radio operation to CD. This, I have on good authority is a common fault.

General Comments:

The car looks great and the build quality is excellent.

The interior is very well finished and there are practically no rattles or annoying knocks from the trim.

The doors feel heavy and close with a rattle free "clunk".

A very quiet passenger cabin with comfortable seats and refined surroundings, but on the down side, the driver, if of average height will find getting in and out a little difficult.

Automatic gearbox is a little jerky at low speeds, but this can be forgiven at such a high mileage.
