1985 Land Rover Range Rover County Classic 3.5 V8 petrol
Summary:
'A touch of class'
Faults:
She required a new headlining on purchase.
Her bumpers started to corrode, they required re-spraying.
Rust has started on the sills and rear chassis crossmember.
The power steering box leaks slightly, but can remain like this for many years before needing any major maintenance or overhaul.
She required a new intermediate exhaust box, as the baffles collapsed, causing excess back pressure on the engine.
General Comments:
Superb 3.5 V8 engine, and extremely comfortable interior.
She is highly safe and reliable, and incredibly powerful at pulling and carrying heavy loads. Excellent on-road performance for such a large vehicle. Speed can be very deceptive, you can suddenly find yourself wafting along at way past the speed limits without realising!
She has a superbly designed interior, ideal for long distance cruising, with 6 way adjustable front seats and of course, arm-rests. She also features walnut door capping and a flip front Compact Disk player.
Wonderful to look at, she is a most attractive special edition model featuring silvers bumpers, twin silver coach stripes and black over silver rostyle wheels.
Her 5 speed manual gear is a joy to use, and is much quieter than the ones fitted to earlier models.
Ownership, so far has been a joy.
I would recommend owning a Range Rover to anyone, at least one in your lifetime, minimum!
