2002 Land Rover Range Rover Vogue 4.4 V8
Summary:
The most luxurious 4x4 by far
Faults:
Broken coolant pipe.
Blocked radiator + transmission oil cooler.
General Comments:
I found the Range Rover to be one of the most comfortable and pleasurable places on the road to be. It is reasonably quick for a 2.5 ton 4x4, and has one of the best interiors in the business. It is also fantastic off road, and in this area stands head and shoulders above its competitors.
I had to replace the radiator and transmission oil cooler (I changed the gearbox oil and filter too at the same time, you're advised to do this on any RR with over 60k miles) shortly into my ownership, and other than a small coolant pipe splitting, it was very reliable over the time I owned it, including some decent off road use too.
The cabin is so comfortable to be in, that even being in a traffic jam isn't as stressful as it would be in many other cars. The Harmon Kardon entertainment system is good, although the Sat Nav is very dated by today's standards.
I found it to be a great car, and will happily own another one day. The only thing I would say is it does seem to go through discs and pads quite quickly, although they're not too expensive. Likewise, servicing and insurance are quite reasonable for the type of car, although fuel costs are high, 15 MPG around town, maybe 20 on the motorway. But it's a big petrol 4x4. What did you expect?
Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? Yes
