1993 Mazda 323 1.3LXi 3dr 1.3LXi 3dr
Summary:
Better than a lot of new cars for quality
Faults:
The screen wash 'low' light got stuck on.
The head light connector plugs have slightly melted causing the headlights to sometimes not come on.
General Comments:
This car is typical of Mazda- a real gem.
It had no service history, but after me changing the oil, filter, plugs etc etc. it drives really well.
The car is excellent on fuel and its tank must be about 50 litres- meaning a typical fill up does not cost much. A new cambelt is also reasonable.
It looks neat if old fashioned- the blue paint work is still really shiny and not faded.
Build is second to none, nicer finish than Toyotas or Hondas (and definitely Nissans) of the same age.
Not the quickest car at low speeds- better on the motorway. Top speed 106mph good enough.
Much better build than some of the newer stuff on the market today i.e. Ford Fiesta and Vauxhall Corsa. The interior is so solid, rattle and squeak free. Amazing for an 11 year old car.
Would not have any hesitation in driving this car round France/Germany.
Only gripes are that the driver seat does not go upright enough and exhaust back box is very noisy despite me buying a new one. Also the reverse gearbox mechanism crunches sometimes.
Lovely to drive- so light and easy with a slick gearbox, but later models are much more involving.
Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? Yes

I have a 323f 1.6L GLXi auto ABS. I've had the car 70,000 miles and had it 2 years, and it's still going as it's now on 85,000.
The car is reliable, as in the 2 years it's passed both MOTs, and broke down once due to a car battery. It's on an L reg, and I paid £300.00 for it.
