2002 Mazda 323 GSi 1.6
Summary:
Lots of niggly faults
Faults:
Failed MOT on perished drop link bush covers.
Windscreen washers stopped working - might be blocked.
CV joints clicking.
Rear nearside wheel bearing went.
Alarm goes off when you unlock the driver's door, and the alarm continues to go off after the engine is started. Only way to stop it is to stop the car and lock and unlock the tailgate.
General Comments:
Not overly impressed. The ride is fairly harsh and bumpy, although the handling is quite good.
Well equipped - climate control, electric windows x 4, electric sunroof.
Noisy engine and fairly sluggish with the auto box.
The car always starts first time, but have been disappointed with faults, particularly the wheel bearing.
The oil filter is virtually impossible to access from the engine bay.
Car is fairly thirsty - as low as 27 MPG around town. Up to 40 MPG on a run.
Not as fault free as previous Japanese cars I have owned.
Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? Don't Know

I drive a Mazda 323F 1.6 Auto. I had it since new last March. I find, as I did in previous Mazdas, that these cars are truly fantastic. My wife's 626 is 13 years old and still going strong! Anyway, back to the 323. I also find that in spite of the fact that my car is an automatic, I get a thrill every time I drive it. It has all I require in a car. Much roomier than most family saloons especially in the back, very versatile seating, good dynamics, very well appointed and to top it all, reliability that is second to none. Price? £13500! Who can ask for more? Andrew Kirk.
