1999 Mazda Xedos 6 2.0 litre V6
Summary:
Luxury, a great drive, but a bugger to fix
Faults:
The transmission had a problem when I bought the car, making it very, very hard to drive in town. Being an auto, at lights or a junction you need to put your foot on the brake. The car would idle for maybe 5 seconds and then stall - bloody dangerous. The only solution was to put the car into park, put the handbrake on and then undo when a gap opened up or the lights changed; much harder in an auto than a manual, and of course not the point.
General Comments:
I can't complain at all really. This car cost me 200 pounds, my Dad's neighbours were replacing it because of the problem (which would have been an expensive fix), and I just needed a runner for 2.5 months.
And on the open road this car was amazing - the best I have owned and driven, and I've owned Audis, Hondas, Toyotas as well as the Fords and Vauxhalls you might expect it to trump.
I wish they still made it, and I'd buy a newer version to keep.
Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? Yes

Would love to have known if you ever got it fixed. Such a rare and underrated car, the Xedos 6 and 9.
