1984 Mercedes-Benz 190 E 2.0 injected petrol

Faults:

Faulty battery, loose baffle in rear exhaust box - not bad for 14 years old!

General Comments:

You wouldn't know this was a 14 year old car when you drive it. Engine is as tight as a nut and will cruise all day at 85-90mph (in Germany!) Been fitted with gas shocks which really tightens up the handling - puts a big grin on my face when I can out handle and out gun XR3 and GTI drivers!

£1800 may seem a lot for a 1984 car but well worth it in my opinion for the build quality, reliability and it's still got that head turning factor when its been washed and polished.

Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? Yes

What would have been the original price of this car please? Friend has Mercedes of this model and year and is curious about what it would have cost new?

Hi, I've been driving a '84 Benz 190e for the past 5 months. It's just a perfect car. I'm the 3rd owner, and the car is on its 3rd engine; the last one is M111961 from an '92 E220. I bought the car with a worn engine, hoping to rebuild it, but it was later blown into pieces. I dropped the M111 engine in after changing many things in the car: steering box, ball joint, rear suspension bushings, center tie rod, starter motor etc.

The car drives smooth and handles great. I peacefully corner at 100km/h without fear, and can achieve 160km/h on straight roads. The brakes are precise, despite being without any ABS. The seats are very comfortable. The engine is however low on gas compared with M102 engines.
