Faults:

Parcel shelf hinges - pinged when I loaded the boot to the top the first time.

Roof leaks intermittently; some days when it hammers it down, no leak. Other days it trickles rain and it drips like a Macdonald's burger does with grease.

Rust is appearing faster in places, since the roads have been salted.

General Comments:

Generally quick, closer to the ground than most average road cars so you get that ass on the floor, go-cart, go-faster feeling.

The fuel consumption is terrible, must be about 18-22mpg, but I do rev it quite high when the engine has heated up. Even so, there are much more powerful engines that are similar in fuel economy. Eventually tops out at around 125mph - praise the M6 toll!

The simple fact of the matter is that this car is one of the most unique standard cars you will see on the road. You may think it looks ugly, in which case I suggest looking at another smaller retro car like the Toyota Paseo (No T-bar top though). There are only a few thousand left in working order, so it may become a retro classic. It rusts in places, the roof may leak, but when the sun is shining, you've got the roof down and people stop to ask you what car it is, it's sure to make you smile.

Faults:

The recirculation slider is missing also the parcel shelf lugs have been fixed/bodged back together the paintwork looks a little tired, but is a sympton of neglect rather than a fault the fan belt squels a little now and again and probably can be fixed.

Drivers seat is worn on the side.

General Comments:

The car handles well and despite its age is responsive and turns well.

Faults:

Parcel shelf hinges 1 broke.

Air re-cycle lever stuck.

Some water dose get in from the roof!

Drinks fuel (19- 23 mpg)

General Comments:

I love the car, but would like to here from someone who has had the weber conversion (carb) Dose the mpg really improve?

It runs great, some small amount of lag on acceleration, but I do like the ride.

Faults:

Air recycle lever jammed (don't they all?).

Blown silencer box (which I initially took to be the infamous flat spot!).

General Comments:

Before I bought this car I read reviews about the 100NX and many mentioned its 'flat spot'. It was fine during a long test drive and so I thought nothing of it.

Then after I'd got the car what I took to be the flat spot manifested itself. The revs would drop suddenly at random especially at junctions and roundabouts with the engine almost stalling. I found this alarming, but the whole performance then became gutless and sluggish. I regretted trading in my old Sunny ZX which was a very hot hatch. A loud hissing noise alerted me to the fact that there was a problem with the exhaust. Had a new silencer box fitted and then boy, this was a different car! Still not in the same class as the ZX speedwise, but very nippy and a joy to drive with its slick handling. In fact the road holding beats all my previous cars including the ZX, the Cherry and Silvia Turbos.

Considering this is a cheap car more than a decade old, I think the 100NX is brilliant. The MPG suffers if you push the car and the insurance is steep for a 1.6 engine. Overall though this is a great fun car with sporty looks, superb handling and Japanese reliability.
