1995 Nissan Almera Equation 1.4 petrol injection
Summary:
A very good car. Totally recommended
Faults:
Exhaust joint was split when I got the car, but the exhaust was still held on.
Rear sills rotted out.
General Comments:
The Nissan Almera is economical, quickish and as reliable as an old sheep dog.
The cabin is very deep and well trimmed.
Don't buy one without power steering, it's hard!
Looks good from the front and has good brakes and a light clutch.
Totally recommended, but get the sills treated ASAP!
Very smooth and responsive engine. Always starts, and has a timing chain not a cambelt.

Just a quick note to say that we sold the car (i.e. part-exed it to a dealer) at the weekend. It had just under 150,000 miles on the clock - roughly the same distance as Apollo-13 when they announced, "Houston, we have a problem!".
Generally, we got our money's worth from the car and only had to pay out for non-standard repairs after about 120,000 miles. The odd things that needed doing were a new clutch, replaced CV-boots and replacement of some pipes on the power steering unit which had corroded.
At the time of selling the gearbox needed an overhaul as the bearings were getting a bit noisy, the driver's door hinge was well worn and the driver's seat belt was a bit tired. We decided it was time to part company before we were hammered with some serious repair bills.
I'd still recommend the model - it's a good, solid, no-nonsense work-horse - but our car has had its time.
