1996 Nissan Almera GTi 2.0

Summary:

Fantastic, Great Little run around and Great on Motorways!!

Faults:

Starter Motor played up when warm at about 68000 miles, replaced at a cost of 70 English Pounds (a local Garage) - WELL WORTH IT!!!

General Comments:

Great Performance-a Real Pocket Rocket, and the handling is Impressive to say the Least!

The Seats are a bit hard, but you have to remember that it is a sporty car and the Support is excellent.

Still own the car and just sailed through another MOT, all that was required was a tyre! Has been an absolute bargain. Thoroughly recommend one and in fact thinking of buying another as a runaround due to its reliability!

Hi, forgotten I had posted twice regarding the Almera, GTi, what can I say - put it through another MOT this week, only cost £220! Mileage is now up to 110,000, still going strong, been an absolute bargain! And not even a 'proper' oil change, nearest it's come to one is when the oil filter worked loose, which I changed and topped up with fresh oil... The car is superb! Well done Nissan on making me such a happy owner this past 10 years...

1996 Nissan Almera SRi 3DR 1.6

Summary:

A reliable sportyish hatch

Faults:

Apart from usual wear and tear items such as tyres and exhaust, absolutely nothing.

General Comments:

My Nissan Almera SRi is by no means the fastest car in the world, but is great as a very reliable run around.

The car isn't that great on the motorway and the bumpy ride can leave you feeling tired on long journeys. However for short journeys around the town etc the car is great.

100BHP means that this car is reasonably quick for this size of car, achieving 0-60 in about 10 seconds.

Quick enough to beat standard 1.6 models by most other manufacturers, and also cheap to insure at (group 7).

The ride is firm, so the car has excellent cornering ability.

The dashboard is naff, but the sporty style seats add to the ride, along with the leather faced gear knob and steering wheel.

And another thing, this engine has a cam chain instead of a belt, meaning greater reliability and less expense.

Patches of rust are starting to appear around the wheel arches. Not unheard of with this year and model.

1996 Nissan Almera Si 1.4

Summary:

Buy one, You won't regret it

Faults:

The motor that powers the windscreen washers fuse blew!

That was it.

General Comments:

Since I sold my Almera I've owned a Renault Megane, Toyota Yaris and a Renault Kangoo van.

Arrrgh! what was I thinking.

Ignoring negative press reports and dull reviews I'm in the process of purchasing a new model of Sunderlands finest (Almera that is not Double Maxim)

The reason I'm buying another Almera is simple.

They're Reliable.

They're Good value.

They're economical.

They look good.

They're well equipped for the cash.

And finally every new car I've had since doesn't give me the same good vibe and good service the Almera did.

My washers don't work on my 99 1.6 SLX, which fuse is the one for the washers?

To the comment on the 15th JAN... stop using industrial strength glue on the front of your car then!

Does the Si model 1996 have a timing chain? I've had my Almera for 5 years; best car I've ever had.

1996 Nissan Almera Equation 1.4

Summary:

I will buy another one!

Faults:

New clutch required at 70,000 miles.

Blower fan got an intermittent fault at 90,000 miles.

New sump required at 98,000 miles.

General Comments:

This car has always started first time: the reliability is astonishing.

While the 1.4 needs to be worked a bit on open roads, the drive and ride is excellent.

Bit cramped inside for big people - long journeys are tiring.
