2005 Nissan Almera SX 1.5 petrol
Summary:
Text book car
Faults:
Climate control has seen better days, rear windows jammed, suspension mounts and springs, new brake discs all round, car has also received every service since new - never had any engine problems.
Cosmetically the car is looking very tired, but it is 17 years old now.
General Comments:
I have always had Nissan's as I have found them reliable, this 2005 Almera is no different. The car that replaced the Sunny in the UK; the Almera feels more modern but is still a pretty dull car.
1.5 SX is a basic model but still has electrics and alloy wheels. Looks smart for what it is in silver metallic. Very common colour.
Inside looks good, seats are sporty and comfortable. Dash is simple and well designed. Ride can be a bit firm at times. Comfortable enough car though.
Not a fast car but will do you a solid 40 mpg, along with cheap repairs and insurance. I have found the car very economical.
At 17 years old it won't last forever and I will miss it when it goes.
Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? Yes

I tend to agree. Cars from about 2000 - 2005 were the last of the best 1990s technology. Then things got too complex after about 2006, certainly with modern diesel cars. General repair and running costs doubled.
Myself I have a 2011 Nissan Juke. Not the worst car in the world, but reliable? No contest compared to cars I've had before, it's been pretty bad (and expensive). To be honest, my dad had more reliable cars in the 80s. Everyone I know that has a car built in the last 10 years or so wants to go back to their 90s cars. Hold on to older cars as long as you can if you want trouble free simple motoring!
