Faults:

Needed welding on the rear end of the sills, plus new front brake discs and pads, for its MOT. It passed with flying colours and had low emissions.

Well it's a very good, tough old car, and sporty too, and made in the UK.

It's fitted with disabled seats in front.

The engine is very reliable; does not miss a beat.

All cars have their faults, but these are not bad cars, and are now a classic car. The only thing is parts are hard to find.

Faults:

Head gasket failed.

Driver's side electric front window mechanism would sometimes stick in the open position.

General Comments:

The car was roomy and comfortable with average fuel economy.

Good to drive, but I was disappointed with Nissan's reliability.

Faults:

Head gasket blew at 150k - uneconomic to repair.

General Comments:

Very reliable - head gasket blowing was entirely my fault. I failed to notice the rad. fan wasn't working and she overheated. Good performance and economy, with an almost racing-car close gear change. Undeserving of it's 'old man' image!

Faults:

Gearbox finally went which is common for a Nissan of this age, other than that nothing at all.

General Comments:

Came with quite a bit of service history and it showed as after 15 years of service everything was still working including all the electrics and stereo equipment, other manufacturers should take note.

Very comfortable over long distances and laughed at all the motorway miles I threw at it with not too bad fuel economy for a 1.8.

Not the fastest car on the road, but very good value for money, extremely reliable and with mod cons that were not seen on other cars for a good 5 years after they stopped making the bluebird.

Not the best looking of cars and not for boy racers since the handing is a bit timid, but for anyone who needs a car for motorway use as well as moving the contents of their house then this is the one for you.

Faults:

Alternator failed at 68,000 miles cost £65 to replace.

The syncromesh for 2nd gear is worn so gearbox crunches when engaging 2nd. Not fixed as it's not dangerous and only a noise.

Nothing else.

General Comments:

I paid £200 for this car. It had been garaged for 18 months previously. what a bargain!

Handles like a barge and won't get you anywhere very quickly, but for a reliable bomb proof first car you can't get better.

The mechanics are simple enough to do most basic work you will need yourself if you want.

The car has 0 points for image, but on the plus side why would anyone want to nick it?

The car is almost 17 years old and has only just started to develop rust spots whcih I am amazed by.

The inside is pure 80's tat, with a large clock in place of the rev counter and a lovely brown interior? However I will say the seats are still very comfy.

If buying the car again I would try and find a 1.8 or 2.0 as I do quite a bit of motorway driving and my 1.6 struggles with acceleration, but for town driving the engine is nippy enough.

Fuel consumption is not great at about 30 miles per gallon, however that's not too bad for a car this age. It was already converted to unleaded when I got it.

Overall a great value tank like car which won't win any fashion competitions or races, but will get you from A to B every day in comfort.

Faults:

I have had to replace the battery as it wasn't charging properly. There was some indecision as to whether this was due to a faulty alternator, but fortunately it was just the battery.

It seems to overheat if I drive at high speeds for more than an hour, although I think this may be to a fault in the radiator seal and therefore easily fixed.

Other than that it is in very good condition.

General Comments:

Despite the sharp edged 80s looks and expanse of brown plastic inside, this car is fantastic. Zero street cred (which is good considering where I live it would be stolen if it wasn't so ugly!)

It is more capable and comfortable that a similar age Ford Sierra I had, and has lots of electric goodies (which all still work.)

Performance is mediocre using regular petrol, but if you stretch to Super Unleaded (which it is supposed to drink) the car becomes much more responsive. Braking is reassuringly solid. The only thing I'd change is to add weight to the power steering. (You can perform a three point turn with one finger on the wheel.)

I was lucky to find a low-mileage one, as many were used as taxis. I would be more than happy to keep this car until parts availability means it would no longer be possible.
