2003 Nissan Primera SE 1.8 petrol

Summary:

Style and Reliability

Faults:

Nothing.

General Comments:

This has proved to be by far the most reliable car I have ever owned. 9000 miles without a single fault of any description. This is a novelty after the appalling reliabililty of the Alfa 156 which preceded it.

It is not the quickest 1.8 engine around, but is far from sluggish. It cruises at motorway speed very comfortably. The engine is smooth and very quiet. Engine noise only becomes noticeable when accelerating rapidly in low gear.

The car is packed with electronic gadgets including rain sensitive wipers, a reversing camera, a trip computer, automatic climate control and a CD Player.

The seats are a little firm, but can be adjusted to suit almost anyone.

The car is very modern and stylish looking. These are not words normally associated with Nissans!

I agree, I also own a Nissan Prim era SE 1.8 and I'm equally impressed, lots of toys for very little money, would buy again.

2003 Nissan Primera T-Spec 2.0 petrol M-CVT

Summary:

Outstanding, well specified, excellent value for money

Faults:

Nothing.

General Comments:

After driving a Primera SE+ for the last three years, and being highly impressed, I thought it would be difficult to find a better car. Nissan have more than bettered the last version with this new model.

There are quite a number of noticeable improvements over the last model. The car is a lot quieter, which is a definite improvement. Larger wheels also make for better handling and a smoother ride. The M-CVT gearbox is so smooth, the only thing that makes you aware of gear changes is watching the revs fall on the rev counter. The seats on the new model are more comfortable, with both front seats now electrically adjusted, rather than just the driver's side.

How come Nissan can fit so many gadgets on this car as standard, that are only options on other makes? Admittedly, this is the 'top of the range' model, but it comes with DVD Satellite Navigation, Fully Automatic Climate Control, Xenon headlamps, headlamp washers, electro-chromatic rear view mirror, and intelligent cruise control all as standard.

I could keep writing about this car for a long time, but suffice to say it has turned out to be an excellent choice for my next three years' driving. Oh - and I like the new shape too!

Hi, just reading your review.. I am just wondering what the "CVT" gearbox is like to drive.. I can't drive manuals.
