1992 Nissan Sunny GTi-R 2.0 4WD turbo

Summary:

Truly the Son of Godzilla

Faults:

To date nothing has gone wrong with the car. Hovever it is a little sluggish from cold.

General Comments:

What can I say about this car... anything you can do it can do better.

Truly blistering acceleration, and a lot of power.

With 0-60 in under 6 seconds, not a lot on the road can challenge this monster.

The interior is typical nissan, dull and grey, but who cares when you have 220bhp, 4wd and a turbo.

1992 Nissan Sunny GTi 2.0 petrol

Faults:

Absolutely nothing in 3 years of ownership since 1996. Serviced regularly but not by Nissan main dealer. Car standard and suspension/tyres/brakes would benefit from upgrade to deal with performance.

General Comments:

Forget Golf Gti's, if you're man enough to overlook the image and tell people you drive a Sunny - you'll get a cracking car that is both reliable and (relatively) cheap to run, that'll outrun most Golf's - for a fraction of the price.

GTiR must be a blast!

You are right about the GTI-R. More than a blast, it is crackers. Try one - I think you'll like it!!!

Try 4-5 grand insurance mate.

Dunno, I have 1 years no claims and I was quoted just over 2000 fully comp with Tescos for a GTi-R.

Gonna go look at a GTi tonight, only 1700 insurance.

Still excellent performance, but it's not 220 bhp only 143, the GTi-R is the daddy.

GTI is good for what it is, and a good 1st step to the GTi-R.

There are turbo kits available, so once mine is looking the dogs, that will get slapped on to produce mega power (220bhp+). Grouped with nitrous, no-one will touch you! Insurance on this GTi is £1300 through Tesco (one ban, 21 year old), you really shouldn't pass this pocket rocket by, it's a scream, and loads more fun than the Golfs (of which I have owned 4 Gti's) and convert from VW fan!

If you have the dough, get the GTi-R, if you want to do it in stages get this and add the turbo kit later (or save for!) but you won't get the 4x4 capabilites (though who says that's any fun? :p)

Had a '92 sunny gti (uk model) and was thoroughly reliable.

Dropped on 17's, cone filter gave it lovely grunt. surprised plenty of people. negatives? brakes are crap, and steering also. Trying to get parts too, even though it was not an import!

1992 Nissan Sunny LX 1.4 petrol

Faults:

No faults in 4 years ownership, replaced headlight bulbs with more powerful ones.

General Comments:

Very easy to drive, superb stereo as standard, well equipped, excellent peformance if revs kept up!

Average mpg, I hated it to begin with but four years later am having trouble finding something to replace it.

I recommend it.

1992 Nissan Sunny SLX 1.4 petrol

Faults:

Except new tyres (bigger), battery, spark plugs, and an exhaust pipe, my greatest problem was the electric features (petrol gauge, water-measurer, etc).

General Comments:

If you take away these technical defects, the car is great. Driving is easy and the car is very reliable.

A good beginners car.

Main problem was with Carburettor, the car just stopped 3 times on a journey of 65 miles.

Seems to be a constant problem with the 1992 sunny.

Where can I get a better carburettor??

Well, I just got my driver's licence a week ago and my father wanted to give me one used '92 Sunny 1.4. Now that you say that is a good beginner's car I think I will have it. Already heard of some old Nissans, and I have an impression that it has a sturdy engine with simple mechanics and no electronics, which is a major plus. Hope it doesn't consume much gasoline and it's in good conditions. And of course if I can afford it.

1992 Nissan Sunny GTi 2.0e petrol

Faults:

Nothing at all has gone wrong with the car, but then again it's well looked after. The car is highly modified, and nothing has gone wrong with these modifications either.

General Comments:

Excellent car! The only problem is, I modify cars to make them as high performance as possible, and it is quite hard to get hold of performance parts for this car.

But the performance in it's standard form is still pretty impressive.

1992 Nissan Sunny SLX 1.6 petrol

Faults:

Almost nothing. It has only drinking problems.

General Comments:

It is my third Nissan and all of them were very reliable. This one is the best.

I am using a Nissan Sunny 1992 model, but my problem now is that it's emitting water from number three plug. What is to be done?
