Good, solid tow truck that is very reliable
Nothing has gone wrong.
This car is a beautiful tow truck regularly pulling a horse trailer with two large horses on board.
It doubles very well as a comfortable family car and takes the caravan on holiday.

A much underrated 4WD
When I purchased the vehicle I was very disappointed with the lack of any performance. The vehicle was booked into a Nissan main dealership here in the UK. After some three days their so called "technicians" were unable to diagnose the lack of power & heavy exhaust smoke. I arranged for the vehicle to go to a local diesel injection specialist & yes, you've guessed it, it was the infamous Air Flow Meter! Some £350.00 lighter in my pocket the vehicle was transformed!
I have since fitted a plug in power box & it now is even better! Thoroughly recommended if you want to surprise other 4WD drivers! This makes the Terrano really move!
I have also fitted an electric fan in place of the standard "windmill" viscous type. This gives quicker warm up in our climate & improves fuel consumption by 10% too.
No other faults have yet shown, but I've only covered 5000 miles since purchase, but otherwise I'm well impressed with the vehicle.

A fantastic underrated 4x4
Absolutely nothing gone wrong with terrano.
Its like every other 4x4 the usual things brake pads e.t.c.
I think that the nissan terrano is a very under-rated 4x4 it doesn't get the attention that it deserves.
I think it was because ford made the maverick and well we all know how bad fords are.

Not much really. Tail light bulb at 1k, 15k and 20k miles.
Thermostat at 5k miles.
Front brake pads at 18K and 4 new tyres at 22k (Bridgestone Dueller 610).
Sold car at 31k, 5 years old.
Great car. Good ride quality for a 4x4. Build quality good and reliability excellent. Dealer service Okay but did not inspire much confidence. 3 year warranty good.
Only down side was fuel consumption, 26 mpg not very good for a turbo diesel. Tyre wear not good either although possibly not bad for a 4x4.
Interior stood up well to everyday use including camping holiday's. Towed a small trailer full of camping gear as though it was not there.
Only reason for selling was increase in family size and 3 doors not practical.

I have owned a Terrano for 12 months and have had no mechanical problems. Build quality is good but the ride on rough outback roads is less than acceptable. I am looking for suitable enhancements to lift the ride height and improve the ride. Offroad performance is however very good with the turbo diesel engine. Fuel economy is disappointing for a diesel. Overall I am quite happy.

Would be very interested to hear further details on the "plug in power box", as it sounds like a desirable addition to help offset the auto-trans.
