1992 Peugeot 106 XR 1.1
Summary:
Good when running, but not at all reliable
Faults:
Where do I start?
1) Battery died after 2 weeks of buying the car.
2) Starter motor failed about a month after the battery.
3) Alternator failed about 2 weeks after the starter motor.
4) Starter motor failed again about 3 weeks after alternator.
5) Head Gasket blew about a month after the second starter motor.
6) Rear brake drums and pads needed replacing about 2 weeks after head gasket.
7) Ignition Amplifier failed after about 2 weeks after brakes were replaced.
8) Handbrake snapped and cracked the under-body about a week after ignition amplifier.
9) Heater system failed - in the middle of winter. No hot air produced. about a week after handbrake.
10) Heater system was fixed, but failed again about 2 weeks later.
11) Petrol hose was leaking and seat-belts were worn. Picked up on MOT.
General Comments:
When this car is actually working then it is not a bad little car. It has a decent acceleration for a 1.1.
Handling is pretty good and the ride quality is not that bad.
However the problems I have had with this car have put me off buying another like it for life.
The way the car was designed is awful as it is really difficult to access parts of the car that need to be fixed.
Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? No

There is no way a 106xsi will do 100 in 3rd...ratio is too short!
It will do 100 in 4th tho :)
