Faults:

Ignition (I used heavy key holder).

Clutch pedal cable.

Battery.

Driver door clangs when being opened.

General Comments:

Very good suspensions and visibility. Agile and not too thirsty.

Not too fuel efficient either (64 MPG if driven carefully).

Good sized boot, but turning circle not as good as expected.

Most newer cars are less agile (although might have better turning circle), smaller boot and much bigger (mainly wider).

Faults:

None whatsoever.

General Comments:

What can I say? I love my 106. Bought it as my first car just over a year ago for £1650 with 66,000 miles on the clock. Came with 3 months AA warranty, full service history and in excellent condition, well worth what I paid for it.

The Pug has been fantastic to me, starts first time every time, even on the -10 mornings we've had this winter! Never broke down, and never had any faults with it.

I find it's happy nipping round town or cruising on the motorway. Don't let the 1.1 engine deceive you, it's surprisingly quick! I've had it up to nearly 100mph, and it held easy, wouldn't try going any faster than that in it though!

I couldn't tell you the fuel economy in mpg, but I put £25 in it, and that lasts me a good 10 days to 2 weeks, depending on how much driving I do.

The interior is basic, but considering the car's nearly 10 years old, I think it's fine.

All the controls are well laid out and easy to use, and the dash is easy to read. Another thing I love about the Pug is that the vision in it is fantastic, from all angles.

The 106 is also in all honesty fun to drive. It's nippy, and even though it hasn't got power steering, you won't notice it because the steering's so light.

It's quick, and it will lunge forward if you put your foot down.

I can see why older drivers would want a better car, but seriously, if you're looking for your first car, I'd strongly consider a 106. If you get one that's been reasonably well looked after, it won't let you down! No rust, no faults, no hassle. Just a great little car!

Faults:

Boot lid stopped working.

Bonnet catch broke.

Bumpers lose their color and deteriorate easily.

Handbrake doesn't hold it.

Spare wheel brackets won't release.

General Comments:

There are very few good points for this car; they are that it is very good on petrol, cheap to tax and cheap to insure.

Everything about this car is cheap and badly made.

The engine struggles when it comes to hills.

It feels very tinny and is like driving a coke can.

The seats are very skinny, and you get backache on long journeys.

Exceptionally cramped in the back, it is not possible to be comfortable.

The brakes are terrible, no other word for it.

The ride and handling is very disappointing and makes a Vauxhall Corsa seem like a Rolls Royce.

The interior is sparse.

Engine sounds like a box of nails being rattled.

It is basically a Citroen AX with a Peugeot body on top.

Faults:

The diff went noisy, and then spat the bearings through the casing.

The rear torsion arm radius bearings collapsed.

The head gasket went resulting in an oil leak.

General Comments:

But for a cheap nasty hot hatch with a few mods, it does shove 172 Clios and Civic Type Rs all the way to 120. I've done it many of times.
