2002 Peugeot 206 GTi 2.0

Summary:

Avoid it like the plague

Faults:

Breaks down every morning.

Brakes failed.

Battery replaced.

Door does not close properly.

Body trim came off in the rain.

Interior light dropped off and hit me on the head whilst I was driving.

Fog lights shorted.

General Comments:

Handling is scary.

Can occasionally go fast if you can get it started.

It should be renamed the Peugeot Dog.

You can see the headlights through the wings.

I keep having annoying teenagers wearing baseball caps coming up to admire it. They think I'm joking when I ask them to steal it.

It really does not like going up hills and makes a most strange noise, reminiscent of a 2CV.

The leather chairs are really nasty, they look and feel like bin bags and kill your back over long distances.

I am going to sell it to see whether I can salvage anything financially, Anyone want it?

So are you trying to say you didn't like it? :)

2002 Peugeot 206 LX 1.4

Summary:

Not cheap, and not a cheerful run about

Faults:

Indicator COM2000 module. Replaced in August with new one, but same fault developed whereby radio comes on full volume, indicators don't stay on, end up flashing headlamps when indicating right. Dealers, Castles in Leicester, don't have a clue about customer service. One minute the Com2000 is in stock, then next it's now withdrawn by Peugeot. Then its in stock again. Not satisfactory.

General Comments:

Great car to drive, in a straight line, but anything that involves using indicators means the car is annoying to drive.

I'm sorry to hear of your problems with the 206, but it is my opinion that you have really been unlucky with the car. I own a 2002 206LX, and have done 5000 miles with no problems, and I know of others who have done many times that with no problems either, so all the problems you have had in under 2000 miles just seem really unfortunate and definitely in the minority compared to other 206 owners.

I do, however, share your views on the poor service provided by the dealers, but rarely do you come across a dealer who offers top notch service, although they all should.

2002 Peugeot 206 CC SE 2 litre GTI

Summary:

Brilliant - but don't pay British prices

Faults:

Cigarette lighter not working.

Intermittent fault with indicators.

General Comments:

This car is pure fun - not for the responsible owner.

Officially 2 + 2 but better forget the back seats except in an emergency.

I love this car - it drives like a dream.
