General Comments:
Excellent fun car although can be expensive to run and maintain.
20-25mpg and £45 to fill the petrol tank. Manage about 300 miles per tank.
Great to drive. Very positive steering and very impressive road holding.
Lovely engine and sings all the way to 7000rpm with ease. Engine pulls from about 3-4000rpm and really pull you into the seats.
If you can find one, buy the later model GTi-6 as it has a better quality of finish for little extra expense. IE. Full Leather Interior, Alloy effect dash and stereo surrounds, Crystal Clear Headlights and later spec rear tailgate without the horrible black plastic slam strip along the bottom.
If you can't find the above, then a 1997 New Shape GTi will still keep you smiling. Well until your wallet comes out!
Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? Yes

It's hard to put a review through of the GTi6 without being either too critical or too OTT. The later models such as the P3's do have slightly better quality build and finished for not much more money. However, P3's do not come with full leather I'm afraid. Half leather & alacantra seats only.
