2012 Peugeot 508 Allure 2.0 HDi
Summary:
Nice
Faults:
Not much, but only had the car about one year. Rear suspension a bit rattly - will have it checked soon.
The car had full history and low mileage upon purchase, has been trouble free. Interior has a bit of wear and tear, but the exterior is unmarked, great for a car over a decade old.
General Comments:
After my old 2008 Citroen C5 finally gave up at 180,000 miles, I thought I'd buy another large family car from France. These cars are not as unreliable as people make them out to be (if looked after).
First off what impresses is the looks, I really like the look of this car. The newer model is even better looking, but this previous generation car is still nice and modern, especially in darker colors. Nice big alloys as well.
Allure model is a nice spec with all electrics and leather seats. The car is super smooth and comfortable. Spacious and a large boot. Quality feel to materials even after many years.
Nice to drive, the 2.0 HDi diesel is the one to go for - I'd avoid the smaller diesel and petrol units, they are not as reliable as this proven unit which has been around for a long time. I'm also getting anything around 45 - 50 mpg + on diesel with realistic driving scenarios. Plus it is fast enough for me.
Used prices seem lower than average compared to similar cars. But it's worth paying a little extra for a well looked after car. Lots of tatty high mileage cars out there - be careful when buying used. I paid less then 3000 UK pounds for mine last year. Full MOT and history, good condition. There are not many cars on the market as good as this for that price. Worth every penny - if you get a good one.
Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? Yes

Car makers must keep designers on a leash. And match them to ergonomic specialists that can impose themselves inside the team. Alas, car making companies never really got this point.
