1995 Peugeot 605 SVTi 2.0 turbo
Summary:
A sleek looking, large, roomy saloon; a unique car
Faults:
An unexplained cut to a flexible power steering hose, replaced by the main dealer at reasonable cost.
Power steering pump valve failed needed a new pump, expensive main dealer repair.
Part exchanged the car for a Mercedes S class when I could not get the solid centre alloy wheels balanced; they would not fit onto any local tyre dealer's machinery.
General Comments:
My car was the last face lift model in Vulcan pearlescent red paint, a wonderful colour when clean and black leather interior.
Loved the shark nose profile.
A very comfortable car with lots of rear leg room, a good long distance cruiser; took it to France twice and all over the UK. Never broke down on a trip, it was a little thirsty being a large car with an automatic gearbox but only a 2.0 litre engine.
I would have kept it for much longer had I been able to balance the original alloy wheels.
I still have a soft spot for the 605.
Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? Don't Know

I agree, good underrated cars from a time gone by. Never had the big 605, but had a few 405's and a 406. Good cars, a bit average in reliability, but I miss the simplicity of cars from the 80s and 90s.

Good cars, didn't stand a chance against German rivals however.

Glad to see someone else who loved their 605!
A 3.0 V6 version was my first ever experience of an auto gearbox; maybe not the ideal car for learning to left-foot brake, but still a great experience.
I found it to be a fantastic motorway car, but still agile enough to make B-Roads fun.
