2001 Renault Clio Dynamique 1.2 16v

Summary:

Top banana is this car... highly recommended as long as it doesn't break!!

Faults:

EMU had to be reprogrammed after supposedly being programmed with the 1.2 8v code at the factory. Took 3 weeks to get this done as this was the first one they'd had at my dealer and the first in the North East according to them. This problem was very apparent within the first couple of miles!!

New clutch and gearbox fitted after 5000 miles. Dealer and independent assessor seemed to think a lack of oil in and around the gearbox/clutch caused excess wear, resulting in the synchro on 2nd gear shearing off and then the broken bits bounced around inside and broke more bits!! Repaired under warranty.

General Comments:

Other than the two problems described earlier, I'd definitely buy this car again... and in fact I've just done that and get the new one at the beginning of May 2003.

Performance is great compared to other cars in its class that I've driven (Punto 16v, 206).

Takes a corner like a smogland hooker.

I will never buy another Renault... they are complete pants - being unreliable and capable of falling to bits in front of you.

2001 Renault Clio Sport 172 2.0 16v

Summary:

For £13,000 new, you get plenty of bang for your bucks!!

Faults:

No problems whatsoever.

General Comments:

It's got a cracking engine, from 2,000 rpm to the red line it just pulls and pulls.

I'm not a boy racer, but I've shocked a few drivers of more expensive cars. I's quite shockingly quick.

Handles like a dream, the Continental Sport Contacts have great grip, even in the wet, in fact in the wet it's a hoot!

Inside it's comfortable and refined, the half leather seats are great.

Looks the business in Silver.

I agree absolutly...

Just hope that the fan belt does not break, because the engine will need a rebuild!

You mean the Cam belt! DOH

Yea dealer says at about 70,000 but change around 55 if you wanna play it safe... or do as I did, new cam, vernier pulleys and belt all at once! Now it's a Clio sport 200

Mucho mucho fun!

Bring it on!

Take it to the countryside.

2001 Renault Clio V6 sport 3.0 V6 24 V

Summary:

This car is very exclusive, does not disappoint !!

Faults:

Battery died after 200 miles.

Alarm keeps going off at any time.

The rear back box started to rust.

General Comments:

The car is quick, not amazingly so, but it is great on the motorway very smooth and sure footed.

Wonderful handling so unlike an Audi TT with lots of feel, the engine sounds amazing just like a sports car should, a little like a TVR with real grunt.

2001 Renault Clio Dynamique 1.2 16v

Summary:

Looks great, bit of a womans car tho

Faults:

Before I even had the car delivered to the UK it was held up in the French port and had a new breaking computer fitted! the car did arrive, but it was a couple of weeks late.

Problem with passenger door lock, new central locking "thing" fitted after 1 month. After Renault had fitted this they broke the plastic clips holding the interior door panel in place, once replace they still squeak now!

Car sometimes stalls for no reason, usually after breaking hard to a stand still when engine is cold! (very rarely)

Odyssey blue paintwork scratched very easily leaving a white undercoat exposed.

Car feels a bit light, one gust of wind and I think she would fly away!

General Comments:

Other than the faults above this car has been a great motor even on long journeys, and I have recently purchased a Clio 172cup to be delivered next month, not all the dealers were great tho, the franchise dealers seemed to offer bigger discounts and better service.

Free insurance was a godsend saved me a packet! Renault insure gave me 4yrs no claims when I came to re-insure with them, which was nice!

2001 Renault Clio 1.2

Summary:

The Renault Clio is a nightmare - don't touch it

Faults:

The car I ordered was delivered one month late - with a heavily damaged bonnet.

The car they offered me in exchange was more expensive and they made me pay for the stereo.

The electronic keys both broke.

The door locks stopped working.

The fuse box had not been screwed down.

The passenger seat tilt operation broke.

The Gearbox sheared off its mounting.

The engine seized.

The 'free insurance' has not yet engaged an assessor though they have had two weeks to do so.

The 'free insurance' will not provide a courtesy car until an assessor has viewed the vehicle (see above)

General Comments:

1. If you buy a vehicle from peugeot it may not be the vehicle you order and if they muck up your order you will have to pay for the difference.

2. If you eventually take delivery don't expect the vehicle to last too long. gearboxes, engines, seats and keys are suspect.

3 When you do get problems, pray that you are not with their 'free insurance' because if you are you will spend more than the premium would have cost you on phone calls alone.

When you buy a new Renault in a Peugeot concession it is normal they have not possess the car...connard.

Try not to buy your Renault from a Peugeot garage!! sounds like user error on all your faults!
