1994 Renault Safrane RT 2.0i
Summary:
The car people forget until they have owned one!
Faults:
The only thing relevant, is twice the car has refused to start. After leaving it for 20 minutes or so, it started.
General Comments:
Comfortable, Reliable and still looks good for it's age and mileage.
Rust free body work.
Easy to service engine and brakes.
2.0i Manual is not very fast, but good on motorway, Top speed 122mph.
Good mpg at 70mph.
Sharp handling with link suspension.
I've drove it from Glasgow to the south of Cornwall a few times and you don't feel that you had done over 500 miles with only stopping once for fuel.
It has more spec than most BMW's for it's year and I only paid £350 for mine and it's been the best car I've had to date for reliability and comfort.
Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? Yes

My 1994 Safrane RN 2.0i with 82,000 miles on the clock had this same non starting problem. Would turn the engine off when I popped home and then it would refuse to start shortly afterwards. Leaving it for half an hour or so would mysteriously cure the problem, until it gave up the ghost 3 weeks ago! Had to be recovered to the local Renault dealer who informed me that I needed a new INJECTOR LOOM and TDC SENSOR. The cost... (take a seat!) £911.00 parts & labour!!! The car cost me £1000 2 years and 12,000 miles ago! The central locking, particularly driver's door won't lock now either if anyone has any suggestions they would be appreciated as I have failed miserably to get my hands on any kind of manual! Oh and I hope the problem with starting turns out to be simpler for you!
