2002 Rover - Austin 25 1.4 90bhp

Summary:

If you are over 65 and below 5'2 apply here

Faults:

Heater dial broke off after 3 uses, the whole system is stiff.

Doors are stiff and noisy.

Starter motor noisy.

Noise getting into reverse.

General Comments:

Like driving a noddy car, I'm 6 foot and my head is stuck against the roof, the steering wheel rubs on my legs, even my 5'2 wife finds the seat high and its her car.

The engine, although the 'high power' 1.4 endows the car with 2CV like performance.

It's a cute looking car, but feels like it was new in 1996, its quite noisy, the controls are old Honda, find it hard to believe it's a 2001/2 car.

Would suit a first time car owner or a retired person.

Due for replacement soon, please Rover as you are about 5 years behind the competition. a Punto feels much newer and that's what would choose.

Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? Yes

Surely a simple test drive in the car would have revealed its limits space wise? I work for a well known car company and we are getting somewhat annoyed at people complaining about things that are clearly not a fault of the cars.

To be honest the lack of size is the least of the problems, see another review of a 2003 car headed 'Dated-feeling, poorly built and unreliable disappointment' to get a real feel for the car.
