Faults:

Car has been very reliable, but recently the drivers electric window got stuck.

But I have had a look and it seems a window runner rubber has become dislodged at the front of the window.

General Comments:

I am really surprised by the car, I expected it to be rubbish, but after a test drive I bought it and it is a really nice car to drive.

It is fast, comfortable, luxurious (lovely leather interior),economical, and well built with no rattles or bangs.

All the controls are nice and light, and the car is easy to drive. Even my wife likes it!We had a Peugeot 405 diesel before this and that was like a tractor compared to the Rover.

Faults:

Unfortunately the driver's side window slipped out f its runners. Was a pain to get back and unfortunately I have been unable to get it working properly since. However, everything else with the car has been fine, and it runs as sweet as when I first bought it.

General Comments:

Was attracted to this car as I felt it looked extremely smart in the garage. It was also significantly cheaper than equivalent age Audis, VWs and BMWs, and came with much better specs. Although it is sluggish off the line, which canb be a pain at roundabouts etc, when it hits about 30mph, it will accelerate exceptionally all the way to 100mph. The front of the cabin is very roomy, and very comfortable, with all the extras such as air con, eletric mirrors/windows etc. I believe the Rover 600 is a bargain used car, it will happily sit at 80-85mph on the motorway, and will still give 45mpg. It will also accelerate past most cars easily.

Nothing yet, however I have only owned it for four months.

General Comments:

This is a really nice car. It was bought to run alongside a Rover 416GSi that we already owned when we were having head gasket problems and needed a car quickly.

This model had a full Rover service history, a low mileage, and both a sunroof and air conditioning, which we were told was unusual for this car.

Although the seats were plusher, the steering wheel larger, and the car was equipped with alloys, it lacked the verve that the 416 had. The engine had loads of torque, and pulled really well, however did not sound nearly as nice as the 416. The gearbox was more like a slush bucket, and the catalyst means that the car sounds as boring as an Astra. This being said, the ride is much smoother, and the road holding a little more steady, thanks to the speed sensitive PAS, and the bigger wheels.

The interior is a little "plastic", and the Air conditioning does not seen as affective as it should be, as well as the fact that after use, when it is switched off, the windscreen mists up for some bizarre reason. The Rover supplied radio was as rubbish as could be expected, which was a shame since when it was replaced with a pioneer unit, the speakers turned out to actually be rather good.

The exterior styling is, in my opinion, very sleek, especially with the color coded mirrors, door bars, and door handles.

I would recommend this car to anyone, however if you can find a good 416 (post-1995) and prefer sportier models, go for that instead!
