2000 Seat Ibiza Standard/Select 1.0 litre MP injection

Summary:

Quite comfortable to drive, and there's a high quality safe feel to the car

Faults:

Problem with it kicking back when driving sometimes, then it won't rev over 3,000 RPM for some reason, unless I pull over and stop the engine and restart it.

Another strange thing, is when the tailgate is up, there is a whining sound from the dashboard, and the rear fog light dashboard indicator lights up!!

Has had a new in-dash radio unit put in, but this was before I got the car - the original one used to switch itself on by itself!!

Sometimes if the steering wheel is in a certain position, the horn won't work.

The temperature gauge on the dashboard works sometimes, but not all the time.

General Comments:

Dashboard & upholstery are unexciting, but the red lights on the speedometer and rev counter look nice at night.

Not much leg room in the back, but fair bit of space in the boot.

No CD as standard, but you can fit a CD changer in the boot.

Hardly ever have to put any oil in or top up any fluid, and it starts very well every time.

2000 Seat Ibiza S 1.4i 8v petrol

Summary:

Economical, well equipped and stylish

Faults:

Engine warning light kept coming on. The book said don't drive the car, refer to dealer. I did that and they said bring it in! So I did and they fixed it. Then it did it again, they fixed it again. Then I sold the car (but not because of the warning light).

The electric window fuse blew every few weeks. The dealer looked in to it, but could find no fault, in the end they gave me a hand full of fuses free - not ideal! Never did find out why it kept doing it!

General Comments:

The pedals are offset to one side slightly. For some people this is a problem, for other it isn't. If you are thinking of getting an 'Ibiza' test drive it and check that you are comfortable with the pedal position.

Cornering, ride and comfort are good for a small car. Equipment is brilliant, with climate control etc. I had a Seat six CD auto changer added to the standard stereo, but it was always sounded a bit 'tinny' for my liking.

Performance is poor for a 1.4 engine in such a small car. Fuel consumption on the other hand is very good. Overall it seems more like a 1.2 than a 1.4.

I have had my Seat Ibiza 1.4 cool/S since March 2001. It has been a reliable car and I have found it handles well. The only problem I have had with it is that I had to have a new electronic chip fitted in the radio, which also controls the air-con as it failed.

My Seat is 3 years old in 2 month, I would definitely consider having a Ibiza again.

I've got a 2001 seat ibiza, thinking of getting a CD player fitted, can it only go in the bbot or can you have it fitted in the glove compartment?

Also how much are they did you go to the seat dealer or just to a shop?

2000 Seat Ibiza Cupra 20v Turbo 1.8

Summary:

Looks good, but very disappointing

Faults:

How long have you got!!!???

Seat is supposed to be the sporty division of VAG. I was sold on the fact of it being a mini Golf GTI was GTI whipping performance, but without the price tag.

The VAG 1.8 Turbo engine is used across the VW, Audi, Seat and Skoda range, may of just be Seat, but they have real build issue and reliability problems.

I owned this car for 4 months and to be honest that was 4 months too long.

It spent most of its life having bits replaced.

Fault Dump Valve - Lost all boost

Faulty Steering wheel height adjustable - the steering wheel would just move freely, very scary are speed.

Faulty boot handle/lock

Lots of squeaks and rattles not expected from a car 2 years old.

General Comments:

Don't buy one.

The performance is lacking.

The suspension is awful and dangerous at speed

The brakes are shockingly bad

The driver's seat give you back ache after 5 minutes.
