2000 Seat Ibiza Cupra 1.8 20VT

Summary:

Best performance car for the money!

Faults:

Nothing major. One loose bit of interior trim, fixed by the dealer. One incorrectly fitted grommet.

General Comments:

As fast as you like. Sticks to the road like glue, though the torque steer can be massive. The car has every bit of kit you want. I paid £12150 from a main dealer with CD, pre-registered.

The 20VT is a fantastic car for the money. My only complaints would be fairly loud road noise in the cabin and a recurring loose, squeaking dash board. Otherwise it has been great,

2000 Seat Ibiza .cool 1.4 petrol

Summary:

A VW for Seat money, bargain!

Faults:

Rear brakes needed cleaning out after 1000 miles.

Tailgate lock became faulty after 2000 miles - awaiting replacement (design fault I was told).

Heater/radio MFD has a loose wire, being sorted when the car goes back for a new tailgate lock.

Front feft tweeter crackles sometimes, being sorted when car goes back for a new tailgate lock.

General Comments:

Replaced the standard 13" steel wheels with a set of 15" OZ Alloys with Toyo T1-S tyres, the car now handles 10x better and really corners well, it also looks the dogs danglees.

The car does approx 40 mpg on a long run and around 35mpg around town.

Not too sure on the mpg with the A/C on as it hasn't been that hot yet :)

2000 Seat Ibiza Sport 1.6 petrol

Summary:

Fantastic looking, distinctive, sporty and great fun!

Faults:

Couple of switches etc needed replacing, but dealer fixed them without query.

General Comments:

This is my first car from new, and I couldn't have chosen a better one. It goes great, looks fantastic, and I've seen only one other on the road in almost a year - hence it sticks out.

It's a bit thirsty (32ish MPG, pretty much no matter how you drive it) and because I'm under 25, insurance could be lower, but it's worth it for the fun and features of this car.

Do you know whether the radio can be changed and upgraded for another standard size one?

12th Feb 2001, 06:21

Without ripping the dashboard apart and changing the stereo from behind (and I'm not sure even that would work), no you can't change the stereo. However, I think the standard unit is pretty good. Maybe the speakers could be better, but I put in a Pioneer CD changer with conversion cable, and it sounds great. Remember, people will turn to hear the exhaust grumble more than your taste in drum n' bass!!

2000 Seat Ibiza S 1.4

Summary:

Best supermini out there!

Faults:

Nothing at all.

General Comments:

Wipes the socks off the Corsa, Clio & Fiesta alike in terms of looks, styling and of course the price is £2000-£3000 cheaper with a better spec.

Best supermini of 2000 by far with the new upgraded look!

2000 Seat Ibiza S 1.4 petrol

Summary:

Spain have won Euro 2000 - really!

Faults:

Nothing, although early days yet - see report on my boyfriends SEAT ALHAMBRA titled "Don't Hold Your Breath"

General Comments:

What a brilliant car, not only because of it's great value for money.

The ride is superb, I specified 15" alloys and low profiles and it corners as if on rails, as well as making it look the dogs b******s! It doesn't have any of the "boxiness" sound and feel associated with many other small cars. Chassis is very rigid. Gear selection is close and fairly precise, power steering weight and feel are superb as are the brakes. The 1.4 VW engine is smooth and quiet at all speeds, averaging 35 mpg driving in town.

Exterior paint and finish is superb, looks so good that it even turns heads!

Interior is well finished and comfortable, ample space in the front.

All in all, one hell of a car, about £2000 cheaper than its nearest rival.

It's a knockout, buy one!!

2000 Seat Ibiza Sport 1.6

Summary:

A well built high powered car for cheap money, the best 11,000ukp I ever spent

Faults:

Nothing, a great car.

General Comments:

At a list price of £11,500 you cannot buy a better built, more powerful car with a higher spec than the Ibiza 1.6 Sport, you name it you get it, it is all standard:

15" Alloy wheels

Climate air con

Traction control

ABS

Electric windows

Electric and heated mirrors

Central locking

Alarm

Front fog lights

Large rear spoiler

Body kit

VW build quality

I would recommend this particular model to anyone who wants a bit of fun and who doesn't want to pay £16,000 for a Golf GTi

I totally agree with this review. We recently bought a 1.6 Seat Ibiza Sport secondhand, and I have to say what a cracking little car! The performance, looks and handling abilities make it an absolute winner, plus it's only an insurance group 7!!
