Faults:
DSG auto-box problems, expensive but mostly dealt with by the previous owner. The car had a full history with all receipts.
Wheel bearing, suspension drop links, driveshafts, and so on.
Air con dead.
Electric mirrors sometimes won't work. Radio sometimes refuses to come on.
Engine sounds very rough despite being cared for (all services) and relatively low miles for its age.
General Comments:
I bought this Yeti as I needed a larger car for a growing family. Older vehicle, but it had low miles and full history and was OK when I bought it, and according to the history, most expensive issues had been dealt with. To be fair it hasn't been a total disaster, but it has not been cheap to run either, and gave its fair share of problems. Wasn't cheap to buy either.
SE model has plenty of equipment and the car is comfortable and spacious. That really is it's only appeal. These SUV / Crossover type vehicles are just weird. It's like they want to imitate an expensive 4x4 but be a large family car at the same time. It's all just weird and does not know what it wants to be. I guess it depends on your needs, but any traditional family hatch or saloon would do you just fine, there is no need for one of these unless you really need an extra little bit of space and like being "higher up" than some other traffic on the road.
4WD DSG model with the 2.0 TDi engine seem to be at odds with each other. Not that economical for diesel, only 42 mpg at best (most diesels I have had before done 50 + mpg) so it's a strange option; I'd go for the petrol in all honesty, or a manual transmission diesel for fuel saving if you need it. Not bad to drive though, quick enough car.
I'll likely go back to driving a Ford Mondeo or something similar - this type of vehicle has limited appeal and is only marginally better than some cars for a lot of extra money, and isn't worth it in my opinion. If you want a big 4 wheel drive, just pay the extra and get a proper one. If you just want a family car, there are far better and cheaper options.
