2000 Subaru Impreza P1 2.0L turbo

Summary:

Best Impreza

Faults:

Head gasket went shortly after purchase.

General Comments:

Overall, a very good car.

A very quick car when wound up, but doesn't have the same up and go as the Evo, especially when overtaking in 5th, but nonetheless is still impressive.

Seats get a bit uncomfortable on a long journey, but I can live with that when the performance makes up for it!

However if you have 8-11k to spend on a performance car, buy a P1.

2000 Subaru Impreza 2000 AWD Turbo 2.0L turbo

Summary:

Brilliant

General Comments:

I was lucky enough to find a last of line classic Impreza with only 23K on the clock, which is in the colour I had been looking for (Mica Blue Metallic) and totally standard (except for the alarm) with every bill and comprehensive full service history. It’s in stunning condition, and the interior/engine bay and boot are as good as when it came out of the factory.

The only problem I have had with it was the aftermarket alarm failed, and I have had to have it replaced.

So far I have been as far apart as the Scottish Isles to Cornwall, and it is absolutely brilliant. In the past I have had cars such as MK2 Golf GTIs, an Astra GTE 16V and an Astra GSI 16V, but this thing is in a different league when driving it. The interior although in perfect condition is as is well documented, basic, but its simplicity becomes its charm.

I have had it inspected by my local garage, they reckon it’s pretty much perfect. A body shop, they reckon it’s never seen paint, and now it’s just sailed through its MOT so I’m extremely happy.

Downsides are the fuel consumption, which is on the steep side, even when driving easily (which I was fully aware of before buying) and you do get people trying to race you, but just ignore them.

So far, I honestly could not be happier with this car – stunning!

Agree completely with you, this car is amazing. I've got a 1999 turbo 2000 in the same color. I've clocked up 10,000mls in a year and the only thing that's gone wrong (touch wood) is a sticky caliper. Fuel consumption is a joke, it eats front tyres, but now that I've learnt to oversteer the backs are wearing quite nicely now too. It's got 97,000 on the clock just now and keep thinking about a change, but to be honest I can't think of anything that could make me smile for cheaper. Maybe an M3?

I agree with the front tyres remark, I've got a 54 WRX and the fronts seem to go quick on that, but I don't go thrashing it everywhere. I think with impreza's its easy to go taking corners quicker than the average driver and not realize it, and that will eat your tyres. Their just too easy to drive quick.

I have a 2000 GC* model, 75000KM on the clock, as factory as they come, not even an alarm. Here in Jamaica I dnt think there are more than 20 GC models if so many. My WRX is great all round, although its just a baby now. Gimmi a few mnths and it will become a beast.

2000 Subaru Impreza Turbo 2000 2.0 turbo

Summary:

Real road performance warrior!

Faults:

Nothing so far cross my fingers.

General Comments:

I have only had this car for just over a week and what can I say its awesome you point it it goes. This car is a serious tool it does exactly what you want it to do whatever the conditions. The fuel economy is bad, but hey you don't buy a 2.0 turbo to do your shopping do you. Everyone should experience the rush of driving one of these in there life well worth the money.
