2005 Subaru Impreza STi UK PPP 2.0 petrol
Summary:
The Impreza just gets better and better..
Faults:
Nothing - zilch - zero.
General Comments:
Our first STI after 5 UK Turbo/WRXs and 1 GX Sport, and the best yet.
7000 totally reliable miles in 11 weeks, including 3000 in Germany in a Fortnight, shows it looks like it's going to follow in the wheel tracks of the previous Scoobs - huge fun and hassle free motoring.
Outstanding brakes, roadholding, handling, and performance, make for a tremendous package.
The ride is hard, but then what do people expect? Buy an S Class Merc if you want cosseting. No one can complain about it's dynamics and suspension/body control. The damper/spring ratios are perfectly matched for fast driving on UK (and German) roads. Playing with the DCCD is good fun too!
The seats are comfortable and the overall spec of the car is good. The much maligned interior isn't going to fall apart (as with some other vehicles), and nothing squeaks or rattles.
The CD/Radio's okay, but who wants to listen to it when the engine sounds sooooooo good? Music should be listened to live or through a good Hi Fi at home. The Flat Four Boxer's designed to be listened to on the road...
Probably the only complaint I have is about the tyres. The Track orientated Bridgestone RE070s tend to wander and tramline a bit too much for me. Grip (wet, dry or even in greasy conditions), is excellent, but I think I'll be replacing them when worn out, with Goodyear F1 GSD3s.
Fuel consumption's not bad - 19mpg around town, 22 in mixed driving, 29 on the slow trundle down the M1 to Dover, and 16mpg on the Autobahn... ;-)
Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? Yes

Nice review, witty and observant. Made me chuckle, so that's cool.
