1996 Toyota Celica GT 2.0

Summary:

Classic

Faults:

Exhaust had it. April 2008 (but is the original from when the car was manufactured)

General Comments:

Totally happy about car; no qualms.

Noticed when raining, the wipers send water in car when opening the window, as you do when raining.

They don't make exhaust of this year 96 model. But do on 95 and 97; strange.

Still shifts and have kept it original; 15 inch Toyota alloys and Toyota stereo. But don't know whether to keep em or update.

1996 Toyota Celica GT-Four 2.0L turbo

Summary:

2L Turbo, 4wd, 255hp = A very good package

Faults:

Thermostat and radiator replaced.

General Comments:

The Celica GT-Four is an awesome machine. It's often overlooked as most people go for the cheaper Impreza WRX, but make no mistake, this is a very fast, reliable car.

With a standard power output of 255hp it's no slow coach, combined with the 4wd transmission you have a great package.

Needs regular servicing and looking after, especially the susperstrut suspension. Very easy to take over 300hp. They are a little thirsty on petrol, but you have to expect it really.

Stunning cars, more reliable than the Impreza or Lancer.

1996 Toyota Celica GT 2.0 litre

Summary:

Fantastic good looking car

Faults:

Drove it for nearly 50,000 miles, often quite hard. I had only 3 problems.

- HT leads; a bit pricey (90 pounds), but if they last another 11 years that's pretty good!

- Alarm stopped working; took this out myself and sent it to Scorpion in the UK, who repaired it for 35 pounds.

- 2nd to 3rd gear change crunched sometimes on cold mornings; this never got any worse and I didn't attempt to fix it.

None of these problems caused the car to break down or be put out of use.

General Comments:

Couldn't be happier. Economy is reasonable (about 30-35mpg on motorways), performance is good, handles brilliantly, it never goes wrong, it's comfortable and it looks great.

Mine had 141,000 miles on it, and it was working fine.

The boot is also huge, especially with the seats folded down, which was pretty important for me.

If someone hadn't crashed into it, I'd be keeping it. Now to find another black UK model.

1996 Toyota Celica ZR 2.2 Litre 16V DOCH petrol

Faults:

NOTHING!!!!!!!!!!

That's right with 45,000 kms on the clock.

General Comments:

For a 4cy 2.2 it gets to 100 very quickly with a top speed of 210kms from 0-100 in 8.2 sec!!!!!!!!

I drive the Toyota Celica very hard!!!! It is well looked after getting washed 2 times a week and driven well. I take it down to some race tracks and give it a whirl!!!!! BOY does it hold on to that road

My next door neighbour saw the car and went out and bought one for himself. But it was an SX that he bought. Mine is a ZR

And another trick for good performance from your Celica is to run it on Premium Unleaded!!!! Premium Unleaded has a higher Octane in the petrol so it cleans the injectors as it works and gives out more power...

A Great car - with 135 Horsepower and 145 Torque!!!!

And again it is a great reliable car.

120,000+ km on the clock and no problems with my ZR. Runs well in Aussie heat and conditions! Never buy anything else...3rd Toyota!!!

I recently bought a 1995 ZR, with 98,000 on the clock. It runs and looks superb. I am very happy with the performance and reliability, especially when I go to work at 5.30am and it is only 3 degrees Celsius, and it starts without a problem! (it gets pretty cold in Tasmania)

It's an excellent car and I think I'll hang on to it for some years to come.
