1990 Toyota Corolla 1.3 GL 1.3 12 valve

Summary:

Find a nice one and you're on a winner!

Faults:

Nothing so far!...only had it 3 weeks!

General Comments:

This is my 4th Corolla, I purchased it from a local auction. The car was a part exchange from the local Toyota dealer and I have bought quite a few from them in the past and all have been excellent!. The car is a 1.3 gl 3 door, 95000 miles with full dealer service history and was one owner from new.The other Corollas I have had can't compete with this one, it's like new!,faultless!

The car has been maintained to the letter and I can't see any reason for it breaking down in the future.

The car has had a small fortune spent on it recently, a genuine full toyota exhaust system battery, rsdiator, starter, new tyres etc etc..a. credit to its first owner.

It's a pleasure to drive and years ahead in the way it drives... I drove my neighbours 3 month old Megane today and couldn't wait to give back to him!!

All in all, if you can find a nice, rust free example that has been looked after like this you will not go wrong!,all you have to do is look after it and stick to the service schedule and it will go for ever. The best thing is the price...200 quid all in!!...motoring on the cheap doesn't come better than this!

1990 Toyota Corolla GTi twin Cam 1.6

Summary:

A fast practical hatch back

Faults:

Had to have the exhaust manifold gasket replaced.

New battery installed.

Key is broken in the ignition, but it starts and drives great.

General Comments:

This is an excellent pocket rocket.

The car is very economical also.

It pulls right up to 7500 rev's.

Faster than a mark one golf GTi.

Interior is not to everyone's taste, but it has an oil pressure gauge and a volt meter.

The seats and driving position is great, it also so has a lot of standard kit.

1990 Toyota Corolla GL Executive 1.6

Summary:

Worlds best selling car for these reasons

Faults:

Nothing as yet.

General Comments:

I'm a student and I used to own a lemon of a ford escort so I was desperate for a cheap reliable car.

So I went for an automatic Toyota Corolla and I have no regrets.

The quality and reliability is second to none.

The ride and smoothness of the car is better than some brand new cars that I've driven. (and has a better cup holder)

The seats are extremely comfortable and cosy, but backseats are a bit squashed considering the size of the car.

The handling of the car is brilliant the car seems handle effortlessly with a near perfect balance.

Good performance in terms of power and speed, engine is solid with good power feedback (but don't expect any miracles)

All in all I would have to reccomend a Toyota or Lexus to anyone. I already have become attatched to this car and recently purchased a slick rear spoiler and some beefy alloys, it looks good and offers great fun driving with outstanding qaulity and reliability.

Go and buy a Toyota if you want hassle free motoring. Great Cars!

1990 Toyota Corolla Executive 1.6

Summary:

Reliability and Guts

Faults:

The Shock Absorbers wore out at 160,000. These were replaced by second hand units from a scrap yard for very low cost (rear legs £60 the pair, full front suspension assembly £140 the pair).

Door sills and wheel arches began to rust at 180,000. £70 worth of welding and spraying later, and all is back to normal.

General Comments:

The car has cost me very little to run in the years I have owned it; this is mainly due to the fact that the engineering is bombproof in its reliability.

I have rated the performance as quite high as although it is only a 1600, it has quite high torque and a power to weight ratio that has seen it beat many a higher performing car. With a 0 to 60 time of about 10 seconds and a top speed of just over 120 miles per hour, it has the ability to beat quite a few comparable cars.

The handling and ride quality are both excellent at any speed, although the suspension does prefer a smooth road.

Comfort is good, as long as you don't want to drive hundreds of miles in one hit as the seats don't supply enough support.
