1988 Toyota Starlet GL 1.0 petrol

Summary:

Reliable, inexpensive and fun

Faults:

Exhaust clip needed tightening.

Nothing else has gone wrong.

General Comments:

This car is seriously reliable and starts first time every time.

Looks are a bit dated, but you could do far worse.

For a car with such a small engine I was surprised how willing it can be once the engine is warm.

The interior is a bit bland and there is not much space in the glove compartment.

This car is my first car and although it does not have power assisted steering it is very to handle, and the steering is light and responsive.

This car is ideal for a learner as the gears are well placed out and the brakes are responsive.

It would also be perfect as a second car or a cheap run-around as it does a lot of miles per gallon.

Overall is was pleasantly surprised with this car as I think that it can easily match similar cars of its age and type.

Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? Yes

I have one in Portugal from 1988 1.000 XL they have now 16 years and it works perfectly and I never spend money for mechanical parts.
