Faults:

Shock absorber, but it is wear and tear.

Track rod ends which is also wear and tear.

General Comments:

I bought the car for 150 GBP back in August 2016, I serviced it and replaced the front left shock absorber. It passed its MOT, I put about 17000 miles on it, it passed another MOT and sold it for 700 GBP.

So it was the best 150 GBP spent :D

Faults:

New alternator required at 90,000.

Several sets of wiper blades.

Tyres.

New cam belt (maintenance) at 100,000.

General Comments:

Extremely reliable, economical, and comfortable car. Not so hot on performance, but 600 miles to a tank of fuel and starts first time every time. Good visibility all round, and I have now done 78,000 trouble free miles.

I would highly recommend this car as a family work horse. Unlike the wife, she is reliable and cheap to keep.

Faults:

Rear wheel bearing at 151000 (£90).

Wiper blades at 155000 (£18).

Rear brake shoes at 162000 (£12).

General Comments:

It's been one of the most reliable cars that I have owned. Never failed to start.

Cruises on the motorway nicely, very very good on diesel.

Had Vauxhalls before, but not with this mileage on it, and I was a little worried at first, but had nothing to worry about.

Would recommend to anyone wanting cheap affordable family transport.

Cheap to service and cheap to run.

Faults:

Rear coil springs both broke - apparently a common problem with the coupe due to the firmer suspension.

Drivers door electric window is loose and rattling - has come adrift somewhere.

General Comments:

I bought this car having had an Astra Sport 1.8 and an older model sport before that, plus various Cavalier SRis. Liked the look of the coupe.

On the plus side it looks good, handles better than the Sport (which wasn't bad), is fast enough for most British roads and, at least from the side, looks good. Not bad on petrol either.

Interior is nice too with silver trim.

The downside is that it is one of the most uncomfortable cars I've ever owned. The leather seats are hard and the bottom section digs into your lower back, making long journeys a nightmare. All my previous Vauxhalls have been great for long runs but this one seems to have lost the plot. Maybe due to its sporting pretensions.

Faults:

Diesel pump ECU went after a couple of months, and I needed a set of core plugs that set me back 830.00.

2 months later the alternator went wrong and needed replacing - another 240.00

Rhe cigarette lighter doesn't work, the brakes squeak, and there is a high pitch squeak when you pull off.

General Comments:

Slow car, but it is a diesel.

The cabin is very dull.

The fuel economy is execelent. 630 miles on £40.00. Being the eco4, the tax is only £50.00 per year.

As for performance, it's quite slow. Once you get going, it's not too bad, but you have to try to keep the revs up.

I find the driving position very uncomfortable. The centre console gets in the way, plus you feel very high up, which I hate. It feels like you're perched rather than in a nice driving position.

My previous car was a Mondeo ST24 - nothing went wrong with the car and it was very comfortable.

I wouldn't buy a Vauxhall again.
