2010 Vauxhall Corsa SE 1.4 petrol

Summary:

Best budget buy around

Faults:

I have only had the car 6 months, nothing has gone wrong. Obviously it is a nearly 12 year old car so upon a search through its history there have been many wear and tear parts replaced, but nothing mentioned about any major problems. The car seems OK and looked after with up to date history and services.

General Comments:

After my 22 year old VW Polo finally failed at an MOT with bad rust, my 2010 Corsa has been an impulse purchase as I needed something reliable that would not cost a fortune and could not afford a new car. Got this for £2150 (after much haggling down from £2650), excellent buy in good condition, only 85K full MOT and history.

Have only put 2500 miles on it so far, but can tell you it has been great, the 1.4 is better than the smaller units, fast enough, and I have averaged 47 mpg (calculated accurately by myself) very good for an older petrol car. Tax and insurance are also reasonable.

The car is a very dark grey, almost black with nice alloy wheels. Typical modern look to it, if you know nothing about cars then it is hard to tell how old it is, blends in with modern cars just fine.

SE model has good equipment levels (for this cars class) air con, electric windows, etc. Ride is smoother than you might think and very quiet to be in.

My aunt had a 1994 Corsa from new and it lasted over 14 years and had 135K on it before it got traded, I suspect this 2010 Corsa will manage the age and mileage just as well if I look after it.

In short this car has surprised me how good it is. I'm not a big Vauxhall or Ford fan (I'm a Volkswagen guy) but I dare say you could say the same about a Fiesta from the same time period. If you want a budget hatchback the market is basically flooded right now with good deals, (and also overpriced rubbish) so be very picky and you will have a nice cheap car.

Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? Yes
