1995 Vauxhall Omega CDX 2.5
Summary:
I bought this bargain for 3,200ukp and have never regretted that day
Faults:
One light bulb in the driver's door.
Wiper blades needed replacing.
The interior is almost as good now as it was when manufactured.
General Comments:
This car has one previous owner.
As a former company car it carries the fullest service history.
Though high mileage this car has performed exceptionally well during the fifteen months I have owned it.
On long journeys it is a pleasure to drive and fuel consumption is very reasonable.
The metallic silver bodywork still looks excellent and clean.
I only drive 3,000 per year and expect to keep this car for at least another year.
Full service and adjustments cost me £250 which I thought was good value.
This car has never failed to perform well and I have consistantly found it to be ultra reliable.
Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? Yes

All the problems reported here have been manifested on my own 1995 2.0 GLSi manual, which has now done 95,000. Head gasket blown twice; innumerable stalling issues due to the idle valve issue already known with this model; EMS light often illuminating (apparently spuriously, probably a voltage regulation issue?) ; I've only got one door lock now functional after twice ending-up with keys jammed firmly in the driver and passenger doors, etc., etc.
A comfy ride, great handling, but an engineering disaster-zone for a german-built car. Never again - I've had it for 5 years - will I buy an Omega of pre-2000 vintage. Even the latest models have issues - a friend had the steering pump go on one after just 5,000 miles!! Vauxhall / Opel really need to address the continuing reliability issues with this (otherwise very competent) car.
