1999 Vauxhall Omega CDX 2.5 V6 24v petrol
Summary:
Its got the lot for not a lot of dough
Faults:
One front shock absorber was leaking on getting the car so replaced both by Vauxhall dealer.
Poor wheel alignment on getting the car so had adjustable camber bolts fitted to the front and the whole thing laser aligned - dead straight and true now.
General Comments:
I had a 2.0 16v CD for 5 and a half years before this one so knew what I was getting into and after 6 months with this new one I am still very pleased.
Had to do a couple of things as detailed above when I got it as you can see elsewhere here.
This one has the leather option and radio cassette cd changer with built in phone. The list of creature comforts is too big to list here.
Fuel consumption can be frightening if you are not aware before you get one. 24 mpg around town and up to 33 mpg on long runs. Suggest you do not get one if you are worried about fuel costs.
It is fast - 142 mph so tires have to be high rated 16 inch 225x55 profile which do not come cheap.
I intend to have another one next and am not happy that they will stop production of the Omega in summer 2003.
Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? Yes

Another update from the writer - well had the car for a little over two years now. Passed last MOT with the replacement of a track rod end. New cat back exhaust for £116 fitted last year. New cam belt also last year as required by service schedule.
Still very pleased after nearly 9 years and 2 Omegas.
Fitted new wire mesh grill, altered badges and plan to have lower profile wheel and tire combo along with lowered suspension later this year.

Update from writer - well I've had the car for a year now, and it just passed its MOT with flying colours and no preparation. It is up to 99000 miles now, and feels and sounds like new.
The only non-regular maintenance item I have had to do was to replace the driver's door lock solenoid, which had an intermittent fault. Cost me just £20 from a "recycler" and 30 minutes of time to remove the door interior, replace the part, and put it back together.
The mobile phone built into the radio with full steering wheel controls is great with the new regulations.
