1995 Volkswagen Corrado VR6 2.9i

Summary:

A true driver's dream!

Faults:

Battery has been replaced.

General Comments:

No matter how I drive this car, whether it be cruising around town or accelerating hard down an "A" Road it puts a smile on my face.

It is an extremely underrated sports car, the handling is impressive to say the least. Even if you do manage to get the rear of the car out of line, it is easy to correct the mistake.

I purchased the car from a dealership in 1999 and have received a pleasing service throughout.

Over the five years of owning the car I have come to one conclusion, that I would rather sell my house than get rid of the car.

Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? Yes

1995 Volkswagen Corrado VR6 2.9i V6 petrol

Faults:

1) Stone chipped headlight - cost a fortune.

2) Battery went flat if car left standing with alarm on for 10 days or more. Battery replaced.

Other than that, only standard servicing and new rubber.

General Comments:

Great performance (0-60 approx. 6.5 secs and 140 mph plus), excellent road holding and driver appeal.

Good front seat comfort but rear space is limited (but still OK for adults) plus a good-sized boot. Ride is comfortable if firm (but this is a sports car).

Overall it proves quite economical. On a hard thrash, mpg drops into the teens but on day to day use expect 22-25 mpg and about 30 mpg for motorway cruising. 70-litre tank gives 450-mile motorway range.

I've owned mine for 2 1/2 years (& 32,000 miles) and can't think of anything I'd rather have. Not that offers the same good looks, excellent performance and economy for the money. Only snag is insurance at Group 18.

General running costs are as expected (except VW parts are a bit pricey). Plus I do wish my local dealer would stop treating me like I should feel privileged to go to him. Are all VW dealers the same?

YES, all vw dealers must be the same, and don't go to them for parts.

Yes all of the VW dealers are the same especially in Canada, do not go to them for parts.

Yes, in the UK certainly you are treated by dealers as if you are something nasty stuck on the sole of their shoe.

Hi Everyone.

I must be one of the few people who has found 1 VW Dealer who has treated me with respect.

Indeed, the Dealership in question has actually carried out all the work expected, and to the highest quality.

The previous Dealership, I used, was terrible!

It seems to be a worldwide problem. I live in Colombia South America and I thought that the problem of dealers was only here, but now I see that It is generalized. The service is awful not to mention the price.

Stone chipped headlight shouldn't have cost much to repair.

The lenses are only £20. Sounds like you've been conned into replacing the entire light.
