1980 Volkswagen Scirocco GTi 1.8i petrol

Summary:

The greatest VW ever built (except for maybe the Corrado VR6. Mmmmmmm)

Clutch replaced due to normal wear.

Head gasket went at 74,000 miles.

Started jumping out of reverse gear at 79,000. Gearbox replaced.

Great car!

Insurance a little high, but well worth it.

Handles like a dream.

Interior is a little cramped. Back seats VERY cramped for anyone except dwarfs and children!

Wish I could have given it a home for life!

Had to replace the electric fuel pump twice.

Fuel lines and underbody prone to corrosion.

Most fun car I have ever owned.

A bit expensive to insure.

Not a practical family car as cramped and lacking headroom in the back.
