1992 Volkswagen Vento CL 1.8

Summary:

Brilliant solid car that doesn't show it's age

Faults:

The original alarm unit failed soon after I bought the car. (Quantum Alarm, aka Scorpion) This was a problem as I had to obtain the wiring diagram of the alarm in order do disable the Immobilizer. But that was easy, Just needed to connect two wires together.

Besides the alarm, nothing else has gone wrong.

General Comments:

Having owned a 1.3i Polo Coupe for one year, the Vento felt more rigid and stable on the road. It lacks the agility and character of a small sports hatch, but the fact is that it was not intended to compete with smaller cars. Many people say it is a slow and boring car and I can see what they mean, however when driven at over 3000rpm in 2nd, 3rd and 4th gears it doesn't disappoint on the performance side of things.

The interior is nicely laid out and comfortable on long journeys for 4 people - plenty of leg room in the rear. The boot is huge. I currently have two 12" Subs in mine and there is still enough space to fit two suitcases or all the shopping (without piling things on top of each other).

This car is also quite easy to modify. The front lights can be replaced with Golf ones as can the grille and bonnet. The front bumper is the same as the Golf also. This means that most aftermarket stuff for the golf will fit the Vento. Same story with the interior.

Loads of people moan how expensive parts are for VWs. This is because these silly people only buy their parts at the VW Dealer. Go to places like Euro Car Parts (branches nation wide) or KMS Spares and you will realize that VWs are one of the cheapest cars to find spares for.

Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? Yes

My car alarm on my 95 volkswagen golf won't turn off and when I turn the key in the door handle it won't shut off. I was just wondering if someone knows how I can totally disable the alarm.
