1994 Volvo 940 GLE 2.0 turbo
Summary:
A brilliant workhorse - I was unlucky with this one
Faults:
Engine seized at 110k miles. Fault appeared to be due to 'bad oil'- when engine was stripped and cleaned was found to be totally undamaged and without any signs of wear. Still, the bill was around £1500uk for the rebuild.
Petrol pump needed replaced at around 112k miles.
Headlamp wiper motor replaced at 130k miles.
New battery around 100k miles.
3 tyres replaced.
General Comments:
This car has tons of space, which is what I need most.
It is reasonably quick, but I suppose not all that economical.
It can turn on a sixpence, and is really easy to park.
For its age, quite a high degree of comfort. Great seats, loads of legroom in the back.
Comparatively simple mechanics and parts now readily available from sources other than main dealers.
Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? Yes

Since writing this review I have sold the car and bought a scenic (!)
I just couldn't justify the fuel costs driving 100 miles everyday on the motorway was costing £60 per week!
I miss it and still look out for other 940's. I wish Volvo did something this good nowadays!
