2009 Hyundai Genesis Sedan 3.8 V6 from North America
Summary:
BEST value in used cars... if you can deal with rear wheel drive
Faults:
Rear brakes needed replacing... nothing else has ever gone wrong.
General Comments:
If you can deal with (or prefer?) rear-wheel drive, this is an amazing vehicle, and a fairly well kept secret. The 3.8 engine is wonderfully silky smooth, and very powerful. This car passes in a heartbeat, and will keep up with Charger RT hemi's on the highway (not kidding).
The Sedans are all loaded, my car does not have joystick controls or navigation, which I do not need anyhow.
The suspension is a bit firm, and you feel rough pavement (like all newer cars now-days).
Gas mileage is fair, and my wife achieved 30 MPG on the highway on a 5 hour trip; I generally average 24 MPG in mixed driving... not bad for a car that is every-bit a BMW or Mercedes in style and performance. The 3.8 is equipped with perhaps the best 6 speed transmission built - by Aisin (Borg-Warner Japan company).
If you live in snow country - you WILL NEED winter tires - or at minimum run VERY high quality all season tires... do NOT try to run basic touring tires in snow - you WILL end up in ditch or in an accident!
All in all, I spent $7000 for this car and have put on over 30000 miles with ZERO trouble...
I am a believer!
Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? Yes

Forgo AWD — are you crazy!?! A car can’t reliably go more than block without sliding off the road, bursting into flames upon any collision.
Why else the proliferation of this feature across new vehicles these days? There must be a genuine need for it; I can’t imagine people would pay for extra weight and mechanical complexity for no good reason. It must be, as being stuck in most of these overdressed soft-roaders is akin to wearing a hair shirt.
