1992 Acura Integra GSR 1.7 Liter from North America

Summary:

One rare Integra VTEC GS-R that I cannot get enough of, it's a keeper!!

Faults:

The failed distributer went out on me back in the recall day. Paid for it first, and was glad to receive the letter of recall.

Third gear gave in for hard driving. Had it fixed in the 90's and now its grinding again in 2007.

Spark plug gaskets finally gave at over 245000 miles.

General Comments:

This still is one of the roomiest cars in its class, with lots of head room and trunk space. The hatch served well to stow all my sports out of the weather and hidden. Could fit my 20 inch frame mountain bike with ease and golf clubs with the rear seats still up.

Still quick and a thrill to push on the throttle. Car pool pale said are we going to take off now.

Seats in the rear and passenger side like new.

Paint job still looks new, just the normal nicks and dings.

Still get a lot of offers to buy my original Aztec Green Pearl GS-R.

Very reliable and still fun to drive.

1992 Acura Integra GS 1.8 from North America

Summary:

Durable

Faults:

My distributor went at 232,000 when I bought the car for $200.

Passenger window motor went.

Power steering belt broke.

General Comments:

Very reliable car. I bought it off my boss; he rolled the car and sold it to me for $200. I bagged the heck out of it for a year, and it still went strong before I drove though a fence.

Very fast and fun to drive.

1992 Acura Integra GX from North America

Summary:

Unparalleled Reliability, Excellent Commuter Vehicle

Faults:

Power Antenna needed to be replace at 80K. The ice in the winter is rough on the power ant.

Rear wheel bearing at 160K.

Front axle went at 180K.

Rear ABS sensor went at 90K.

Clutch died at 135K.

General Comments:

This was an excellent car while I owned it. I drove it over 100 miles per day for 6 years.

It was great in the snow, with proper tires of course. I used to put studded snows on it every winter, and it ran circles around 4x4's in the snow.

The interior held up very well for 275K miles.

The brakes always seemed to be out of round, which gave a pulsing in the foot, but they worked fine.

When I traded this in for a new Lexus, I got $5500 trade. I could not believe it! If I didn't buy a Lexus, I would have bought another Acura.

It was a little tight in the passenger compartment, but I could haul a good size load with the hatchback and rear seat down though.

1992 Acura Integra RS 1.8L 5-speed from North America

Summary:

Fun little white buggy

Faults:

I bought new front tires for it.

And new front brakes and rotors.

General Comments:

I bought this car from a local dealer/garage for $1800. The thing was immaculate when I got it. I was dealer maintained for all 170,00 before I got it. This thing absolutely flew for something that got 30MPG around town. I ran it around town beating the absolute snot out of it, Doing such things as racing my friends, e-brake slides, passing people, going 60 down old dirt roads, I wouldn't recommend doing that, but I had my fun with it and now its tired (considering I beat it for 12,000 hard miles) and I really needed and truck. The only grips I have about it was that it was front wheel drive which is just a personal preference and the gears were too short and horrible for highway driving (ex:I would be doing 60 and running at 3000 RPM) but that's the way the car was made and I still got through and had my fun with it, but ill always remember the good times I had in my little white Acura.

1992 Acura Integra GS 1.8 from North America

Summary:

Unreliable car, but fun to drive.

Faults:

After doing much research on "reliable" used cars, I bought my 1992 Integra gs with 120,000 miles on it, and after one month of driving it it started having problems. On the highway mostly, the rpm's would drastically start to jump anywhere from 2,000 to 6,000 within seconds on a random basis. Sometimes while driving, the car would just shut off and then turn back on seconds later. I know very little about cars, but it felt to me like the gas was somehow not getting to the engine. Other times when it would shut off, I had to pull over and wait about 15 minutes until it decided to start back up again. This happened more frequently the more I drove it until eventually it wouldn't start up at all.

I had to let the car sit for 6 months until I could afford to take it to get fixed. When I eventually did they replaced the fuel filter, spark plugs, plug wires, distributor cap, rotor button, and cleaned the fuel system as well as an oil change which came to $389 and was supposed to fix the problem. Well I just got it back from the shop yesterday, and when I took it on the highway the rpm's still did a little jumping and the check oil light came on. This is how it all started in the first place until it eventually got worse and worse to where I couldn't drive it. Now I wish I never bought it in the first place.

Can anybody tell me why this might be happening?

General Comments:

This car is fun to drive when it is working properly.

Well...you might try checking the distributor. The distributor on these older Hondas are crap!

I have just purchased a 1992 Integra from my mother-in-law. It has approximately 135,000kms. I have noticed that after the engine is warm and I'm on the highway, the car begins to shutter. I pull over to the roadside and check to make sure I don't have a flat tire or anything. After I proceed, the vibration or shuttering goes away. The front end was checked and its OK., as well as the tires. It seems to happen only around 70 miles per hour. It really has me baffled.
