I skipped this model over the 50k price tag. Bought a TL for 15k less. Trans issues were very bad.

Sounds like the dealer is using some really crappy wiper blades -- possibly RainX, which tend to not contour to the windshield very well.
Go to your local auto parts store and get a set of Bosch Icons. I put them on my Cadillac STS and they worked as well as new blades for 3.5 years, throughout all of the rain, ice and snow. I still used them for another 6 months and they still worked acceptably, but had a couple of small streaks so I replaced them after 4 years.

Honda/Acura tried to make this luxury RL a great car. But missed the mark with the public. Just didn't sell a lot of them. It got so bad that sales in the US and Canada were down to 379 total sales in the US and 29 total sales in Canada in the year 2012. Even the all new RLX hasn't been a big seller. Having to go one on one with Lexus, Infiniti, Mercedes, Audi, Volvo, BMW and other luxury brands just didn't work for Acura. But when the parent company like Honda corporation is selling millions and millions of cars worldwide, I'm not sure if Acura really cares. They are in it for pride now. Not great sales.
But if you like the feel of Honda products and like they way they drive, then an Acura RL might be a great fit for you. Because it's basically a Honda on steroids. Nothing more and nothing less.
If you want a safe, reliable choice, get the fully loaded one owner 2004 RL. If you are daring... get the newer designed 2005/2006 RL model. 2007 through 2012 sales dropped down to nothing, so finding those years would be hard at best. Spend the whole day researching each year RL. Read comments, reviews and complaints until you know the car like the back of your hand. What you get with the RL is a great basic luxury car, at a cheap price, and it has that Honda reliability. Just don't expect too much.
